*koff blush*

I'm totally not sure what to make of it, but for some reason it's endlessly entertaining. It's all full of intrigue and mystery and conspiracy and I totally blame [livejournal.com profile] anitac588 for pointing out the way to this dark, twisty and ultimately hysterical path. The theories! The tragedy! Oh reeaaaally? Oh yeesssss....

People in the know, friends of friends who know, proof, no proof, photographic proof...my stars!!

Perception is everything. One photograph can be seen so many different ways. Also, it seems as though people don't understand just what a camera does. That unhappy squint becomes a belly laugh when you look at a series of prints taken one after the other. Sorry folks, one picture *does* lie.

Anyhoo, it was gangs of fun, and reminded me a bit of the times my dad and I would dish on the neighbors and that one soap he somehow bizarrely got hooked on for a year. My dad *loved* gossip. It was weird. But funny. I was sad that I had no one to share the treasure trove of biz-hunh? I'd discovered. Oh well. I couldn't have shared this stuff with him anyway. Whereas, my mom might actually have listened to this stuff. She was bored by gossip but would have enjoyed the Twilight-Zoney what-the-fuckness of it all.

Of course, I have my own feelings about all this stuff which I keep close to the vest. Oh heck yeah, I have my theories. ;)

it's me too lazy too log in--girl, i spent all damn day reading that thing! It's totally impressive and if all it required was belief for a thing to be true, those guys would be wearing tweed suits and sensible walking shoes and raising corgies in the countryside with their children and getting occasional visits from their beards/ surrogates. Do other fandoms go this crazy? I don't recall this stuff in SV but I was so innocent then....

HW--duh! *headsmack*

I don't know if it goes this crazy for fictional characters, but when it spills over into real life people, yeah it gets nuts. Feuds, meltdowns, comms breaking apart and forming new splinter comms, flame wars, trolls poking just to poke, fandom crazy spilling over into fans bitching at the real life SOs and telling them to go away so the "boys can just be happy together," holy shit. did I miss anything? I don't know. It's nuts :) Bandom seems to be particularly susceptible to this--maybe because a lot of the fans are excitable teenagers? Like One Direction, American Idol, etc.

I think it's partly because RPF is more acceptable in fandom now. When I was mostly in SV fandom, RPF with Tom and Mike was pretty underground, "special but to hell" (remember that?) But nowadays, RPF is just another kind of fanfic, fanfic has entered the mainstream, and the Fourth Wall has fucking disappeared.

I miss the Fourth Wall, you know? I also miss fanfic being a bit more underground. The objects of our obsessions should NOT be bothered by our obsessions. imho.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. I cosign this, underline this, stitch it on a flag and fly it from the highest mast. I love RPF--I kind of hate that it's so mainstream now. I hate that fans want to read it as biography, for crap's sake. I miss the handbasket because the handbasket to hell was *just* us. We locked those things and kept it under wraps. We sure as hell didn't print it out and try to give it to whatever ship is current.

The objects of our obsessions should NOT be bothered by our obsessions. imho.

This is our Manifesto!

My least fave part of the whole thing is the viciousness that is directed to the real life girlfriends/wives. I think Daneel and Gen have had some really weird, shitty stuff happen with J2 fans, and one of the guys in a band I like actually lost his girlfriend because of the freaky fans. *sigh*

And that should've been special BUS to hell lol!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2013-07-05 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I feel sorry for those wives--so sorry that I actually like Gen now where before she kind of creeped me out., lol!!

I was pretty sure you'd had some letter problems there. *GRIN*

"Hmmm. She must mean bus. Though special *butt* to hell works as well..."

Hi, jumping in because why not.

That part of the fandom, the hatred towards the girlfriends/wives, makes me want to not be associated with the fandoms. It's really sick. And potentially dangerous. it doesn't take much for people to cross the line to stalker/real life threat.

That said....so what is this tinfoilt hat community? i get bored sometimes....

And hello again.

You know, at first I laughed my ass off and then it got under my skin and it tarnished SpN fandom for me for a few days. I think it's horrifying, the amount of hatred directed at folks who don't deserve to be treated that way. Who cares who the actors married? For that matter, i kind of don't care all that much about the actors--not to the extant some folks do. Dean's my boy, I see him in my house every Wednesday--or did. This Jensen guy, I don't know, he never comes to see me. :)

Here's the link to scary town (http://spnanonhaven.livejournal.com/). The other places are members only I think and I can't get with those. I definitely get the feeling that this comm doesn't take itself all *that* seriously. :)
