writing. oy.

This week is almost over and I have not been as productive as I hoped I would be. So, I did this, I printed out the bit I have so far and I'm editing it on paper because I can usually see it better that way. I have stacks of scribbled over bits of different stories! I don't know why it's easier this way but it is. I tend to see mistakes better, get the flow better. It does get expensive after a while, especially when it's a long story. Sometimes, I end up with big fat folders full of the same five pages, scribbled and high-lighted all over. :D

Also, as time goes by, I am more and more unhappy with my laptop. The keyboard is just godawful, hinky and touchy and just stupid. It's terrific for reading and watching shit on because it's huge, but for writing--gaaah! It is not for me. Of course, it's taken me a few years to admit out loud how much I hate this thing...*sigh* I feel bad about that because it wasn't cheap, and I was raised by folks who survived the Great Depression on one side and WWII on the other...you used stuff up until there was nothing but fuzz left and gosh, rarely replaced an item just because you didn't like it.Especially if it cost an arm and a leg! Which I have been told that I didn't spend much at all for the laptop so shut up and replace it but GUYS. It's not broken, I just don't like it.

I'm posting this, because I'd like to break my streak of writing long drawn out posts full of personal feels and meandering, blabbly thoughts about my Show and my life and then deleting them. You don't even know what I've saved you from, because I love you. And yes, because I don't want to come off as a ranting, weird, sometimes grossly over-sharing person...but I suspect that ship has sailed....

Oh yes, I'm the same, I'll use things until they're literally falling apart. But a laptop is SO important! I still cling to my ancient desktop for writing because the keyboard and the screen and everything is just the way I like it, and my laptop just ISN'T. I swear my writing is better on this old one. No, seriously :)

Wait, that wasn't the point?

Please don't delete your rants! A flist full of personal feels and meandering is perfect for when I need a break from writing. Or just to feel a bit of cyber connection from someone else who loves the show like I do.

And I'm totally with you on the laptop. Mine is missing both the b and v keys, and I've grown remarkably accustomed to compensating. :)

Maybe you could pay it forward, sweetie, if you get a new one? I know there are so many places that would love to have a still functioning laptop. Just a thought. :)

*hugs*

Remember, computers are like dogs. If you've had it 2 years, that's 14 in computer years.

I love your meandering and blabbing!

Awwwwww!
*smish*

Well, i dunno where you sit to write, but if it's a desk or some such, why not just hook a keyboard up to the thing? I can't use a laptop keyboard *at all*, i detest them. Last time i went to see [livejournal.com profile] sweptawaybayou, she had her son's old lappy for me to borrow, and i brought along my treasured ergonomic keyboard from home.

And my mouse.

ANY way....yes. :) Whatever to make you comfy!

Hi, Roxy! Maybe you should write in a notebook like I do for your first draft, make your changes, and then type. Less expensive! ;)

I'm a notebook using person too... Old person.... what else can you expect ? Besides it's hard to get white-out off of computer monitors!!! LOL

And just like you, Roxy.....I use everything until it crumbles to dust. Still remember the days when we used to babysit for 4-6 kids all night and got paid 50 cents an hour. Our Depression era-born parents were frugal and passed it on.

Like many others I think laptops have their drawbacks. I need my DELL desktop for writing. I love the big old easy-viewing monitor and tapping away on my keyboard.

P.S. I ALSO HAVE AN EMERGENCY KEYBOARD AND MOUSE. MY MUSE LIKES TO POP IN AT 2 A.M. AND IF MY MOUSE OR BOARD DIES AT THAT HOUR I HAVEN'T SEEN MANY ALL NIGHT COMPUTER COMPONENT PLACES. (The people who populate Wal-mart at that hour are proof of God's sense of humor!!)Yikes!
