So....

Would everyone be really pissed at me if that slave fic I dropped here ended up being happier in the long run? I'm just not sure I can end it so hopelessly if I work on it and it seems like it might be a little longer than I first imagined *koff*

I generally disapprove of happy ending slave fics, but I suppose if you must........ : ) And a big yes to more story.

Welcome back!

It's your story. You should write what you want. I love a happy ending cause I'm secretly and old softy. Shhh.

I love the angst, man. But a happy-ish ending is the payoff for torture in the middle. Plus, more words from you? Always a good thing!

I'd love an ending that has a bit of happy, hope or love at the end :)

roxy, dear, you could write slave!fic of any kind and I would read it. and love it.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2015-07-02 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I do too! Disapprove, I mean. There's no way that it could be a happy, "omgod, yes, I do love you," kind of ending. That's just not possible. But I'm thinking more along the line of master and slave coming to understand one another, maybe being real friends, and this is of course years after slavery has been abolished. I still believe that it's not possible for a slave that had been in Jensen's position to truly love anyone, especially not the person who owned him.

So, in other words, an almost completely different fic than what I posted, lol!!

I know, I know--I just don't want to feel like I'm cheating myself or my readers by having it end happier than what we saw...I'm certain I can make it *not* feel like the happy ending is pasted on. Crap. My wobbly, old, shmoop-filled heart is crying out for a happy ending, just like Come The Night, or Cicatrix, or to the Waters and the Wild, or...okay, so none of those had happy endings, really...*ah-hem*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2015-07-02 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad--this will make me feel less bad if Jensen has a change of heart and finds out he can deal with Jared in some way. Or I don't know, the whole bit I posted first becomes an AU of what comes next...this is why one should never post the ending before posting the beginning and middle. Seems obvious, doesn't it? Not if you're a special flower like me! :D

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2015-07-02 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking of aiming for some hope...so far I really like this Jensen. He's so sweet and I hate to hurt him...kind of ridiculous but there you have it. :)

*smishes*

And, you know...although the original fic was really, honestly, about 100 percent damn *accurate*, it was also depressing as hell. So.

YAYAYAYYAY, YOU'RE HOME!!

Oh my God! I almost commented that I thought all of your stories had happy endings and then those exact stories (3 of my favorites) came to mind. They're happyish endings, right? No? Perhaps I haven't grown as soft as I think. Ha! Where's my whip?

[identity profile] cassiopeia7.livejournal.com 2015-07-20 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't necessarily have to be a "happy" ending (and considering the subject matter, it probably shouldn't be rainbows and puppies) . . . BUT . . . after all that pain, it might be nice to end things on a hopeful note. Let them carry on into that brave new world, and whatever it may bring.

Besides, I'd love to see more of this 'verse from you.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2015-07-20 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
The minute I started to write the next bit, the ending of the original hurt my heart. But I think because I have to write a more-or-less happy Jensen and happy Jared in the next few parts, it makes it harder to deal with, knowing what's coming next--hah, over-identify much? :)

I am really interested in this world, so, yeah, more will come soon. Now I need to know how many days it takes to go from America to France by airship...writing is fun!
