I enjoyed the ep. What I liked the most about it was that the boys were left on their own at the end, with Lucifer dead and Chuck without power to help them. I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm also looking forward to going back and watching the season again, because it seems to me that the use of Lucifer in the fight and Sam facing his worst fears has been hinted at quite a bit.
I've always thought of Lucifer as a spoiled child/rebellious teenager who just happened to have too much power and didn't think anything of the little creatures called humans. Yes, he was scary and awesome in relation to the boys, but in relation to Chuck, he was just a kid throwing a temper tantrum. So this portrayal, to me, was just another aspect of the whole thing. Big picture vs small picture.
Sam... is doing whatever he has to to beat the Darkness because he blames himself for it. He is also respecting Cas' choice. And, I think he trusts God with his life - believing he is doing what He wants him to do. So much to think about and mull over<3 (I don't take Lucifer raping Sam in the cage to be canon by the way - although I think it would make an awesome fic... :P )
That's me though, and I didn't love Red Meat or The Chitters while everyone else seems to have. Which is actually why I thought I'd leave a comment. Because I felt the way you do now, with those eps. I wanted people who enjoyed the ep to tell me how much they enjoyed it so I could share that and search for something good in them. *hugs*
