Oh rilly?

Sxf top 100 sf icons

Well…now of course I'm excited that my boys are on this list—but put Dean before Captain Kirk (17)? I love Dean with a fiery passion but he's not a bigger SF icon than Kirk. Unless they're judging by some odd criteria like who you'd be more likely to fuck…in which case, okay.

And Mal being number one? You know, I love Captain Tightpants just as much as the next obsessed fangirl, but no. No. That spot belongs to Kirk, or Han Solo (who, how the fuck is this possible, is not even on the list), or Batman (19. It's mentioned in the article that it was just a fan poll—I'm thinking they just polled their cousins.

For the record, me, I'd choose Spock (8) as number one, considering his influence on that generation—and the next. And traumatize the hell out of Dean. You know what I mean son…

68. Sam Winchester
67. Castiel
9. Dean Winchester

Thanks [personal profile] danceswithgary, that list was a laugh!

That's the weirdest fucking list ever. Do you think the results are skewed because of the age demographic polled? I'd put Kirk and Spock in the top ten, certainly.

I'm a little miffed about Aeryn Sun, D'Argo, Chiana and Zhaan not being on the list frankly. And while I do think Dean should be in the top 10 I agree, he should definitely be behind Spock. And The Doctor should be before Mal.

O.O Who voted on this, monkeys? I think someone is getting fantasy confused with Sci-Fi for one thing. How exactly does Captain Jack Sparrow make that list? Why was he even considered? Pirate movies are NOT sci-fi. And yes, how can Bobba Fett make the list, but not Han? What is wrong with people???

The only thing that made me happy was seeing Ianto Jones as #6. *g*

That was ridiculous. I must say I agree, there is no way Dean should have beaten MOST of the people who followed him on the list. But you know the people who vote on these things are internet fandom fan-girls. They're basically our peeps. So, it's like we've encouraged them to be jackasses. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

For the record, I agree that Spock should've been number 1. I'm not even into Star Trek the way most people are, but he was freaking iconic. Him or Darth Vadar I think.

And can I say, POOR SAM! Beaten by both Dean and Castiel! My poor little woobie. :(

That list just irritates the hell out of me every time I think about who's missing.

*grumbles some more*

It sounds like fans of current shows were more likely to hear about it and vote, hence Dean being so high on the list as SPN fans are everywhere these days. And Ianto Jones is adorable and sexy, but let's be honest here, what did he ever do that would would qualify him as a Sci Fi idol???

And LOL at Mal, but not a surprising result either. I remember Jonathon Ross openly laughing at the Firefly film coming out as #1 in some poll they did of films of the year, and it was pretty clear some ballet stuffing had been going on

It's kind of confusing but I think the list is characters from the 21st century, which is why Han Solo isn't on it (or Luke).

Though I'm not sure if someone can really be an "icon" if the list has clarify what show or movie the person is from.

I wonder if James Marsters gets bonus points for having two characters on the list.

Though really, Mal over Captain Kirk or Spock or Doctor Who? Did they poll only Joss fans? Don't people realize Kirk and Spock and Bones practically built science fiction? Though if they are only referring to the new Spock and Kirk, *maybe* they don't deserve to be closer to the top.

On a real list, Han Solo would be towards the top for sheer awesomness.

Huh. Weird list.

I think I am most offended that Sam got beaten by Cas, but yay, go Dean ;D

FWIW, I would totally put the Doctor (and it's the Doctor, not Dr Who - bad science fiction fans!!!) at number one if we're talking about influence on the genre/cultural significance, etc. Well, either him or Darth Vader. Mal Reynolds is a weird choice. Then again, I do not understand the Firefly obsession. It sometimes makes me wonder if it would fare so well in similar polls if it hadn't been cancelled.
