(no subject)

We pulled boxes of comics out of the attic (The Great Attic Cleaning Of '06) and I have to say...I had weird taste in comics back in the day.
They were all, of course, Marvel--I was entirely too cool for DC. That was the company for old ladies, you know. (it *was* the 70's) DC had that big flying boy scout, and that fucked up weirdo in the batsuit.

Me, I had Deathlok, Morbius, Guardians of The Galaxy, Killraven, and Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Dracula, and Luke Cage (the first Black hero! Oy, bad, but I loved it!) Oh, and Master Of Kung Fu, god, I loved that book!

X-men, of course, and Alpha Flight, (NorthStar, I knew you were gay, even back then. Boy, did they ever fuck with you, poor thing)

So, here’s the challenge---have you ever heard of *any* of these books? ‘Cause the comic guy laughed when I told him what I had. *grin*
The one common factor in almost all of these books? Slash, slash, slash—at least in my young and fevered mind.

I’m writing, I swear! Really!

And by the way, thanks [livejournal.com profile] teot, for making me realize Deal needed more unhealthy sex! You’re a great source of inspiration for me!

Just popping in to say that that is quite possibly the sexiest icon ever!

X-Men is my main fandom and Northstar is one of my favorite characters to write. I own the Alpha Flight comic where he comes out.

Pfft!

Need you even ask?

And! A Hollywood star took his screen name from a character in one of those books. Who is the actor, and who is the character?

heh.

I had Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, X-Men, Alpha Flight.

I first hit comics through the Sword and Sorcery books--Conan and Red Sonja.

I know who all of them are!! I've got a few different books on the history of Marvel comics- what can I say, I'm a junkie. I tend to flip flop inbetween DC & Marvel- right now I'm mostly DC, with Astonishing X-Men also on my pull list. :)

I've only heard of the X-Men out of all the ones you mentioned, but I just had to say how much I LOVE your Brex icon. *swoons* Two of my favorite characters... two of my favorite actors. :D

I've read a ton of Dr. Strange, Dracula, Alpha Flight, and (of course) X-Men. I never bought any of them, though -- I think they must have belonged to one (or more LOL!) of my brothers.

I've heard of Dr. Strange, but Iron Fist???? That's just a slash story title waiting to happen!!!!

[identity profile] katholicgrrl.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
X-Men! And i adored Dr. Strange in the 70's! Barry Smith's Dr. Strange, and his Conan was beautiful too!

[identity profile] katholicgrrl.livejournal.com 2006-08-15 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Oh right, Barry Windsor-Smith. it's all coming back to me - remember the Dread Dormammu, and Umar the Unspeakable?

I'm too young in comicdom and in general to know any of these titles, but I just wanted to check in with my joy that slash was alive and well before I was born. ^--^

Brex was your first OTP? That's a pretty awesome first OTP. I think mine was either Hiei/Kurama or Sora/Yolei from Yu Yu Hakusho and Digimon respectively.

Sweetie, I read and loved every single title you mentioned. I still have my Dr. Stange and Master of Kung Fu comics but I'm afraid that they'll probably be going soon. Sometimes it feels like I'm selling off my children, or beloved friends, silly as that may sound.

Did you read Green Arrow? Ollie is just such a sexy beast and he and Hal were slashy even before Kirk and Spock had the chance. ;)
