I have been a stranger in a strange land
Clark landed on the balcony, wearing the remains of a muddy MetU sweatshirt, blood on his shaking hands, but the broken twigs in his hair, they made Lex break. Clark dropped to his knees. “Lex, can you help…I can’t do this alone.”
He’d always pictured the truth coming with more anger, and less tears. On opposite ends of the planet maybe, words flung across a chasm. But here was Clark, begging him for—comfort, understanding, sorrow filled his eyes, and he was newly a stranger in a strange land.
Lex kissed each bloody unbroken knuckle. “We’ll do it together, Clark.”

Also Stranger in a Strange land was one of the most memorable books I read while in high school. Ahh the educational joys of a school library.
