Is it just me, my friends?

I thought when that Tide commercial , the one giving hope to folks by giving them clean clothes, first aired, there was no mention of Hurricane Katrina? I remember being struck by it's lack of mention when the thing first aired. I thought, "well, there's some shit just waiting to happen." and had already kind of penciled Tide off my list, but I'm getting up in years and I could be mistaken.

ETA: Ah-ha. Always look before you leap to conclusions. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] kyanoswolf!

Soooo, cookie day today! As Bob is my witless, I *will* make the cookies I have become so famous for. Well, at least here in the little Rose Manse. Every year, at the Opening of the Scared Can O' Cookies, the air is thick with suspense--will they be edible this year? Will they soften in hot cocoa or retain the consistency of brick? Will they be tasty, or will they hurt us? Ah, seasonal joy! The voices of the little childrern!
"Fuck, she put raisins in the oatmeal cookies again. I fuckin' hate raisins."

They don't say this out loud of course--a Mother knows. She reads the sparkle in her beloved children's eyes. "Ma, fuckin' Oma undies again? Did I not ask for the dental floss panties?" (paraphrasing of course)

Off to inhale deadly amounts of flour! Kisses!!

(paraphrasing of course) Of course. LMAO!!!

I'm sure your cookies will be wonderful!

Hee! The season wouldn't be complete without such conversations.

Tides "CleanStart" was actually first implemented in response to Katrina.

Proctor and Gamble's press release:

This keeps cracking me up! I finished up my marathon of baking last night and now have trays and plates and racks of cookies stored all over the kitchen in random places waiting to be made into gift plates. I expect some of them to fall out of a cupboard onto my head before I'm done.

i'm laughing at the "will they hurt us" line. oatmeal cookies without raisins, btw, have no reason to exist. well, unless you've thrown in chocolate chips, and then all bets are off.

years ago, i baked for christmas. really, i should do it again, but probably won't. well, maybe next year, if you post one of your recipes!

Reading this just made my morning so much better. I hate busy/have-to-think mornings of work. :( I should not have to think until after 1 pm!

But this made me smile! *hugs*

Ah, the joy of watching Tide do more for Katrina victims than the federal government... And they're better-organized, too.
