nobody expects...the Spamquisition

Last night, I was wishing there was a way I could search my entries for a certain character that I like to write the same way no matter what the story. I wanted to be sure that I was keeping to the characterization I'd chosen for them ( my earlier post).
roxy, I said, it would be wonderful if you could just type in their name, and the entry would then magically appear. Yes, roxy replied. Kind of like that tag feature.

Tag feature?

You know the one.

Ah. That one. Say, isn't that your bus?

This children, is what we call Techno-Booby.

tags came along after i'd had my journal for years already, and i was too lazy and resistant to The New to cabbage onto them. so, i have no tracking system either. alas.

what character, huh huh? you doesn't has to tell, but now i'm wildly curious.

Heeeeee!
I've tagged back two years and all my stories. I tagged my stories using the memory function, 'cause i'd had them all in my memories at that point. Still haven't finished tagging all the other posts, though.
*la*

Have you tried www.ljseek.com? Sometimes that can be helpful.

(And yeah, backtagging things is a PAIN. I spent a whole weekend backtagging posts for [livejournal.com profile] eat_crow when I became the maintainer of the community, and it wasn't even that many entries. The only personal entries I have backtagged are my recs, and even that was a major pain in the butt).

Backtagging, hm? I'm still stuck at doing that from 2005 posts...

Being obsessive-compulsive has its advantages sometimes. I used tags from the very beginning and that in combination with the yearly story lists I maintain makes life very simple for me.

Depending, of course, on your definition of simple. I just spent the last week updating my website and archiving all the stories I've written since May. What a PITA.

I know, i'm still getting used to them!

I wanted to keep track of Toby because I used a lot of VietNam era research on him, the way he talks, and acts. I'd like him to be very consistant, no matter what the fic. *G* Which kind of harks back to the earlier post here. ;)

Yeah, the memory function. I remember that night I went quietly insane and deleted all my memories. Shit, I'm still working on getting those in order. Doofus, me!

It is indeed a major pain, the tagging. I try to remember to do it now, but I never remember to do personal posts, or posts that somewhere down the line I think--'dang...when did I post about the DC Atlas, or when did I do that post about Lex and the giant purple dildo?' *kidding! i think*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
It's awful, no? *siiiiiiiigh*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! See, you're so smart and organized! *iz jeluzz*!

PITA?? Ha!! I *like* that! *G*

Oh, dude.
Yeesh.
*smooch*

Deleting them takes about five times longer than putting them in there. What a night, eh?

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oy. It was...a night and a half--lol!
