wow!

YaY, I'm done! Summer Vacation is done! That's really fast for me--even East was finished pretty darn fast-for me. *G* Look for posted bits soon!

Now, I just have to work up the courage to ask [livejournal.com profile] danceswithgary (hint hint)to help me get a shit load of fic ready to post at SSA. I have stories going back to 2006 that need to be archived. What I really should be asking is which of these fics I should even bother with archiving and which are fine just to chill here. Most of my memories and tags are cleaned up and up to date so that's not a problem. I also plan on a fic journal, and posting all the finished stuff there, starting from the beginning, lo those many years ago. *G*

Looking over all this stuff, I think my favorite stories of my own are The Dog, Strange Boys, and Out Of A Foreign Land. I have bits and pieces of other stories that I like but those are really my favorite. Hey writers--what are your own favorite stories? I'm curious! Or nosy. *G*

Um. I'm terrible with names. Yes, i am.
I really liked the one in Russia. Heh. And um...the ones with the cook and such, so silly and fun.
*pummels brain*

Oh, man, i suck as a fangrrl and flisty!!
*twirls you*

It's hard to pick, but I had the most fun writing How Gay is Superman...

Personally, I think one-shots are the way to go for me too. Long ass WIPs for me tend to be too long assed, is that even a real term?, even though I like telling longer stories.

However, with a one-shot, I dont need to worry about taking an ice age between updates and losing readers...

It's funny, when I was first into SV fandom (and diehard into Clex) I was writing fic all of the time like a mad woman. I had like several stories going at once, and would inhale any porn fic I could find. But I don't know, I have sort of gotten away from posting my stuff anymore. I write constantly--(mainly Brois) but I just don't seem to have the mojo to go through posting it anymore. Not sure why.

But hmmm, my own personal fave? As far as the most fun I had writing a story, that would either be 'Red Hot Peaches' or 'Pickled Peaches.' They were just crack--but fun crack to create. As far as one I could be proud of for the themes and characterization, that would be 'Numb' or 'Portrait of Restraint.'

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, fun writing! True, that counts too! Some stories are gangs of fun to write. The Dog was no fun to write at all. I think it's one of two fics that made me cry my own self. *G*

I always have trouble keeping it short, though I think some of the better things I've done have been short. And yeah, folks drop away like crazy the longer a fic is. I lose track too some times but mostly because I get distracted with my own stuff. See, there's a real benefit to being between stories. :)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
No no-your stories, not mine! *hughug*

Hey, who can remember the ton of stuff I throw up here all the time--I've been pumping stuff out almost non-stop since we got these things, lol!

Ah!
Heeeee. I am a lamer. Sheesh.
Um....
Letters. And Credence. And...Compass Rose. And Treadmill and Aftermath and Fusiliers and Under the Mountain and Scaling Heaven and...umm....

I think that's it. :)
You *do* write a lot. But that's a *good* thing!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
I think I can understand that. I've got stories, or parts of fics that will never see the light of day. They just don't oomph me, y'know? Or they're things that maybe are only interesting to me.

I look forward to reading your favorites--if I've read them before, I will enjoy re-reading them! ;)

[identity profile] dm-wyatt.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
I think Subject was my most difficult, it was certainly the darkest, but I'm not usre I'd call it my favorite.

I think Superman for Sale has its moments, but it's not even in tone (some chapters get almost silly, others so dark that it makes me tear up). I wish I could have done it more quickly, I think I sometimes lose track a bit of what's gone on before...

I think I'm most proud of Not Clark, even though a lot of my flisters don't seem to like Lois much.

I think I nailed SV Lois and her voice isn't easy to keep in your head for long, although the story situation was probably cotrived.

*shrug*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
LOL!!! Ooooh--kaaaay...*GRIN*
I do believe Clark has finally shut up. ;) I'm not going to say for sure, he has this way of sneaking back in my head when I least expect it....

There was a SpN story kind of kicking around in the back of my head that I knew was going to be jossed by the season opener, but you know me--canon? What the fuck is that? we shall see. In the mean time, there are some damn good fics being posted, SV-wise and SpN. I'm loving that baseball AU--where Dean's the ex-ballplayer?

[identity profile] rednihilist.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Great job, hon. Another fantastic (or would that be "fic-tastic?" XD) era comes to a close in my book. But it'll be cool to be able to re-read some of your stories all in one long format. Kinda like gorging myself on the sweets every Halloween -- I loves me some scrumptious treats! LOL

Hey writers--what are your own favorite stories? I'm curious! Or nosy. *G*

Honestly, since I haven't written all that much (or for that long yet, either) I'd just have to say my Day series. Coz it's the only one besides the drabbles I've managed to finish! :)

*squish* You awesome lady, you!!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of us won't step past the Clex, but I do from time to time, depending on who's writing it. I've never been disappointed when I've clicked--but I am pretty darn picky, too.

Ah, yes, i'm enjoying that, too, even though teh angst is making me fidgety.

SPN from you would be awesome!
*snerk*
Your icon is hilarious.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
you know, I think *everything* you write will be my favorite story of yours. I think you're an amzing writer.

[identity profile] dm-wyatt.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't really expected many of flist to read it, actually, because of that so I was flattered when some people indicated they read it (and loved it) despite not liking the ship.

Most of my flist seems to be Lex fans more than Clark fans.

Ms? I'm all about the Clark, although I won't read all pairings with him even from writers I love (like you, unfortunately.) I haven't tried that summer break thing you did with Whitney and Clark, for example.

I dearly love [livejournal.com profile] danceswithgary's stories, but will likely give all for Stargate: Atlantis sotries a pass...

I can understand it to an extent, since I do the same thing, but still... I like to see more comments.

[identity profile] helioshyperion.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn't it feel good to get a long fic done? Not that I would ever know...
>.>
<.<

I love all of my tentacle ones, and I can't choose between them which one I love best. And I love my story about Little Alex and his Fairytales.

I love all my babies. Don't make me choose.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it cute? I usually don't care much for these kind of things but I absolutely *adore* her style!

Heee!
OH, that's perfect.
Yeah, some stuff like that is too adorable.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely understand not reading Clark with other folks--I remember back in the day being very disappointed if the POV was Clark's and he was paired with someone other than Lex. Don't ask me how this changed, I have no idea. I always liked Lex with other people though--namely Bruce.

I have a bit of a dislike for SGA. I've read the occasional fic, and [livejournal.com profile] danceswithgary did start a SV/SGA x-over that I don't think she's finished. I kind of think of SGA as the fandom that ate SV, not that it's really true. I mean, the same thing could be said for DCU fandom. It was just time for folks to be moving along I guess....say, do I sound like a bitter old cat lady?

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
*HUGS*
Choosing them all is a *good* choice, beloved!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
omg, I *know* Posting to that site is like stabbing yourself in the eyeball! But Dances is so damn good at it, everything she hands back to post is perfect.

only the latest fic i write is ever my favorite lol! it's a constantly shifting landscape

you know, that's true too, lol!!

[identity profile] rosy5000.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
*sniffles* Both my babies are all grown up and out on their own. :( I'll miss you boys, but I'll visit you often. *blows kisses*

Considering I've only ever written one tiny thing, I only have one favorite. lol *starts humming Little Bunny Fufu*

But I love each and every one of your fics. Each one has something different that makes them enjoyable. Some are fun and silly, some are intense and emotional. Though, I don't think I ever read Dis Pater Jupiter yet. Lucas scares me. lol

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Trust me on this--don't read it. I can't believe how twisted some of those stories were! *snorf*

[identity profile] rosy5000.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
lol Ok. I'll stick with re-reading some of the others then. lol *smooch*

i haven't written enough fanfic to have a favorite. actually, my favorite things are the few little harry potter poems i tossed off (so to say) for a friend who writes in that fandom.
(written before the books were all out, this is my little riff on 'dumbledore' as archaic word for bumblebee)

SGA didn't eat me yet - it's just nibbling. :-D

That WIP is still percolating, but I think it'll start pouring out soon.

I have to say that I like every one of my stories for different reasons, even the ones that end up with 2 or 3 comments. My favorites change based on my mood - right now I think of the longer fics they're:

Destiny Wears A Disguise

Unforgiven

Zero Effects

Destiny's Savage Heart

And you know all you have to do is ask, darling. I'd love to help! *squishes you*

[identity profile] dm-wyatt.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Clark and Bruce, as you know, but it still has Clark... Somehow that works, but it is different than the Clex. I think people have moved on because the Clex hadn't been as apparent in the show the last few years and now Lex is gone.

Why Clark doesn't work well with Whit or Pete or Chloe for me, I don't know...

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
ooooo...it's almost like this is my sneaky way to get personal recs. *G*

You are the best! Thank you!

[identity profile] me-ya-ri.livejournal.com 2008-09-24 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Whee! Congratulations, Roxy! (Now I gotta go read the thing and comment on it. Been so busy... *hangs head*)

Someday I really have to do the SSA thing, at least for my better SV stuff. I've thought about it but still haven't done it. #^^#

Let's see, my favorites? Hmm, I think in Smallville writing I'd go with Redemption, Breaking The Rules, and Forbidden Fortress as my top three, plus my still-not-done Twinverse series (just three parts to go! *cheers*).

Outside of Smallville, I'm really fond of Garnet & Dair's story, and Kio's Dance, with the top of the heap currently going to Debts to Recover (WIP). They're all original fics, with slavery being a theme for Kio and Debts.

(Hmm, I do believe I need to update by Story Archive, too. *Hugs you for making me notice it's out of date*)

Curious nosiness is good! Look at all the good recs you're getting. ^_~
