So, I'm majorly behind on the SpNBBs, but I did get to read this story and I highly recommend this fic! I liked it so much I actually stopped being lazy and added the link! This is what AUs are all about--building a believable world, and seamlessly fitting the JBoys into it. It's a late fifties, early sixties AU, and it's a wonderful read.

Btw, your icon is awesome! This was my husbands absolute favorite bit of the whole movie. During the height of the hype, we could see the commercial with this bit ten times in an evening and he would laugh every. single. time!

I hope you liked it! It was a bit anachronistic but not enough to throw me out of the fic--besides, it kind of has to be that way. Relentlessly using the slang, the speech patterns, and behaviors of another era just comes across weird to modern readers, no matter how accurate you are. It's a matter of knowing how to sprinkle in that flavor in a way that works, and I think this writer did a good job with it.
I think I have some catching up to do with you, yes? Con reports and all? *g*

I'm all for smoothing over some of the hard lines between "then" and "now" in a period piece, but one anachronism I don't accept easily is that in most cultures, in most periods of history, two men gettin' it on was extremely dangerous. I'm never happy to read a story that glosses over that simple fact.
If her Danneel-Jensen relationship is any indication so far, the author isn't going to let me down.
