Heck yeah!

I'm rapidly approaching—heck, might as well say I am—55 years old. That's the age that, when I was 20, I used to think, 'well they lived a long, full, life', when discovering someone of that age had passed away. Yes, age lends perspective.

This age, this year, leads me to think of opportunities missed, of goals not realized. We all of us (well, some of us) have desires and goals we wanted at a young age and now find ourselves looking back and regretting not going for it. For me, there are quite a few goals I never reached—but I regret very, very, few. I've done something brilliant in this life—I'm BG's mom, I'm married to a man I think the sun rises and sets on. But still, late at night, we think about what night have been, if we'd only….

So, in that spirit, I've decided to do something about that, friends. I'm going to reach for the stars—that's right.

I'm running away to join the circus.

Ciao, babies!

55 is so young now, isn't it? :)

EEEK!! The cirucs?!!!

**pulls up in the clown car and honks the horn**

I can't wait to see you perform :D

[identity profile] lexalicious70.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
For someone who's approaching her 40's rapidly, you're my role model for the future, Roxy!

Do you still want a birthday fic? Let me know!

[identity profile] garryowen.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Circus! I think you should be a knife thrower!

When's your b-day? It's not on my homepage list.

On a more serious note, I understand what you mean. Some of my more, uh, RESPONSIBLE friends think I am crazy and that I move around too much, but I say: life's short, might as well enjoy it and do things you want to do, see things you want to see. Because no matter how much you do all of that, there'll still be some missed opportunities when you're leaning on your cane and popping cholesterol pills. Of course, then I might regret not being more responsible in my youth.

Hm.

Have fun and send postcards!

Hee....

Lex and Clark are waiting to see you on the trapeze! :-D

[identity profile] twinsarein.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooo, it's the daring young lady on the flying tarpeze! That's right, I said young. My grandmother was winning hula and diving competitions in her 50s (she lived to 109, and only died then because she decided to). My grandfather (on the other side of the family)retired from his career as a well known doctor in his 70s, took up the hobby of hybridizing Japanese iris and became world famous for it and wrote two books on the subject (died at 102).

I think 50-60 is the new middle age, and it's great that you want to pursue your dreams. Say hello to the lions and elephants for me.

[identity profile] rosy5000.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you'd be FABOO in the circus baby! :D hehe

Let me know when you're in town, I'll make sure to catch the show! *giggles*

*smooches*

[identity profile] pepperjackcandy.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Just as long as the circus has an internet connection. 8-)

[identity profile] nashmaveric.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I make it a point never to regret anything ::grin:: The theory is good, though I occasionally have problems with its application!

If you join the circus can I come be your helper type person? ::puts on helpful face:: I'd be dead useful!

[identity profile] epeters.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Just so you know...... 70 is the new 40! You're not even middle aged yet!

[identity profile] cinderella81.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooooh the circus!!!

Can I come with you??

please send pictures from your circus trip, okay :DD

When someone asks me my age, I have to laugh. I tell them on the outside I'm 39 but my inner child is a constant 13... and in charge! She's devilish and promises me that we will never grow up. I won't be joining you in the circus rink cuz when I turn 40 I'm becoming a roadie for Rob Thomas.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
You'll look fabulous on the high wire. Although I can also see you as a lion tamer.

[identity profile] ladydreamer.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That's awesome. Come entertain us when you're in the area. We left our lives and decided to be pirates.

*travels around in an RV with a flag on top*

[identity profile] kaydee23.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Roxy, I'm so proud of you. I hope they don't make you pick up elephant shit and stuff, but have fun. Who's going to keep Mr.Roxy, uhmmm, satisfied while you're gone? Just wondering?

[identity profile] rednihilist.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you the strong (wo)man? Or the knife toss person? Or are you the ride honcho, workin' that ferris wheel like no one's business! XD

Happy freakin' 55th, you crazy-ass woman!!! I expect you to be around for quite a few years yet, so don't forget to bring your laptop when you run away to the big top!

*Big slobbery kisses and full-on bear hugs galore*

[identity profile] dawnybee.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll miss you greatly, but at least I know who to go to for peanuts and funnel cake. Hook a sista up, will you please?

[identity profile] emeraldsedai.livejournal.com 2009-08-11 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
You're gonna be, like, the Carter Speed Limit!

(Uh, me too, pretty soon.)

I was lucky enough to figure out at a VERY early age (like, 14) that regret is the world's biggest waste of energy. We could power whole large cities on people's regret. Commission, omission, doesn't matter!

Though I totally think you should commit circus. I really do.
