How come lj doesn't send me notification of the birthdays of the people on my friends list?

I know, mine doesn't either, I just got lucky to catch Fromward's birthday. I've been looking at the folks on my list's info, trying to catch their birthdays.

Any body have any suggestions? Is it just us?
