explain please?

I'm a little confused about the facebook/LJ posting thing--don't you have to make a choice to cross post? It's not automatic, right? I ask because I've always been rather clueless about how this whole thing happens. I much prefer to keep that FB thing separate from this because while almost everybody on my side knows what my hobby is, nobody on Mr. R's side knows and it's none of their business and plus, I'd like to avoid the inevitable disowning.

Yeah, the Share This feature has been around for a while and that's not the problem, the problem is if you've f-locked a post someone else can still crosspost a reply, which doesn't seem like a big deal until you think about the fact that if someone on their FB clicks the link to see the original post.
I get what LJ is trying to do but it wasn't very well thought out.
