my Avengers reaction post

So, I read posts about the Avengers and how they’re the best thing since sliced bread. I've seen all the lead-up movies—Iron Man, Thor, not Captain America ever in this life—so I figured I had the background. I went in kind of ready to fall in love.

And I did—I thought Loki was perfect! I didn't much care for him in Thor, but I was also being blinded by my brief snatches of Idris Elba so, perfectly justifiable that I kind of ignored everyone else in the movie. But wow, he was shiny like a brand new penny! Kind of hot in the way I like. Plus, a wicked little smile that I really loved. What the hell is wrong with me? Hah!!

This movie had the best dialogue, no surprise. This movie killed off my FAVORITE character, again no surprise Joss you bastard. This movie had Samuel Jackson which automatically makes it good. Samuel, you will never not be hot to me. Love me some manipulative son of a bitch Nick Fury.

I had fun picking out actors I thought might be TV actors, besides the obvious of course--hey girlfriend you were pretty fucking cool! Ted *should* have kids with you.

Now, some of you know about my issues with Captain America, casting there-of. I said to myself (I like to have these important conversations with myself out loud, in front of witnesses), "Miz Rose, grow the fuck up. That Chris boy is a perfectly okay guy. It was never going to happen. Jensen was never going to be that character. " So I watched this guy, really watched him, and I have to say, I can't understand why it didn't happen. The only difference in those two actors' abilities is that Jensen doesn't seem to know what to do with his hands when he's acting. Physically, Chris has a better body but movie magic would have fixed that and still, JA's got shoulders and an ass to die for. I wanted it so bad I actually *saw* JA's face in some scenes. You know what that's called? That's right, barking crazies, is what that is.

This new fandom is churning out slash like a WWII era propaganda machine, but me, the only vibe I got was a lovely little dub-con vibe between Loki and Thor. [livejournal.com profile] dreamlittleyo posted a fic recently that made me go 'hot dog, that right there!' Oh yes, the movie brought that big, without a doubt. Also, it left me with a desire to see a little guilty Steve lets Phil do him favors involving Cap's dick and Phil's mouth, it leaves him all squirmy and unsettled and kind of hating himself and maybe Phil, but he keeps coming back and Phil doesn't really know how to say no and he likes it and hates it and likes it more when Steve fights the feeling right through a blowjob…whoooaaa. Went on a mini-vaca there, sorry.

Me summing up my whole experience? Joss is the shit, Black Widow was hot and competent and that made her even hotter, Thor's a big blonde idiot who deserves Loki tricking the shit out of him, Tony Stark is cool but Iron Man is still kind of corny, FUCK U CAP—SHHPIT-TOOIII !!! and Nick Fury is the mother-fucking greatest of all time. Not jumping my ship yet.

Sadly, we did not get a senior discount. *pout*

[identity profile] droolfangrrl.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
We keep meaning to go and then missing the matinees.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
You know, it's definitely a matinee kind of movie. Sadly, we missed the matinee because we screwed up the time, and then we didn't get a teenager as a ticket seller which would have guaranteed us the senior ticket--the ones under twenty never ask. Regal Theaters, bastards that they are, upped their senior ticket to 60 and I'm not quite there yet.

[identity profile] droolfangrrl.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, oh, COMPLETE AND ABSOLUTE TANGENT!

I kind of love this comic already, but this page I'm like cheering. You might like it as well.

Oh gosh--that's how *I* want to go to work, LOL!!

[identity profile] kira29.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I (and a lot of other people) am sincerely wondering if he's actually dead. They made very sure to have the camera off of him when they called it. Plus as you said Nick Fury is very manipulative. Basically I won't be surprised either way.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'M PRAYING IT'S SO!!!

If he comes back, I'll definitely go see the movie. He's so cool in this totally uncool way and completely a BAMF. Heee! I just love Clark Greg!

[identity profile] kira29.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
I'll just leave this here for you....

I know its most likely older but still hilarious!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I'VE NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE!!!! OMG--AWESOME!!! THANK YOU!!! ♥

[identity profile] altimeterrise.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
I hadn't seen that either - how?!!! How did I miss this?! Hee, and the best part is quite possibly the donut dilemma - I have been there myself...and have also decided to just buy *both* :D

Your review is certainly unique, Roxy! ;)

I'm hoping that The Dark Knight Rises can compete at the box office with this film. I'm a DC girl at heart, but Marvel has it all over DC for movies! DC hasn't done anything good except the recent Batman films.

P.S. Thor/Loki and Steve/Phil are HAWT! ;)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
*GGGG*

The Dark Knight Rises looks *fabulous*!! I will certainly be there!

P.S. Thor/Loki and Steve/Phil are HAWT! ;)

RIGHT? RIGHT? *high fives you*

I'm trying to wait until the crowds die down. However, I've heard so many great reviews from people that I know I'm going to have to break down and see it soon

Glad to hear you loved it! (Have to admit, I wasn't all that impressed with "Thor" - but I did enjoy Loki's character in it. Probably one of the more two-dimensional comic book villains I've seen on the silver screen in a while.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I loved Loki for sure! Thor was kind of just okay but this movie gives both characters a better run than Thor. Me, I'd suggest waiting until the crowds die down--or go at an off time like we did.

[identity profile] rosy5000.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ori and I saw the Avengers last Sunday. I saw Thor and Captain America and liked them enough, but I went for one reason - Hawkeye. My new obsession! OMGUHH!! *g* I never saw the Iron Man movies because RDJ just kinda creeps me the hell out. But since I laughed at every one of his scenes in the Avengers, Ori is determined to get me to watch those two movies now. :P

Loki was all kinds of awesome. I just love the snarky bad guys, and WOW, did he clean up nice at the museum! Thor definitely got what he deserved from Loki, I mean come one, he's lied and tricked him how many times and he still "he's my brother" trying to 'save' him! Cute but totally the dumb blonde sterotype.

I didn't mind Captain America, but I kinda had a mini-crush on Chris Evans from the Fantastic Four movies. I was just waiting for Steve, Tony and Banner to get it on. lol The UST was unreal, even Ori made comments about it.

Poor Phil. :( I think the entire theater took a collective gasp when he got killed. :(

But yeah, I was totally focused on Hawkeye the whole time. DAMN Jeremy Renner is effing gorgeous! I just want to lick that vein on his arm a few times and I'll be happy. ;)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hawkeye, lol! Everytime I see him I go, "Oh look there goes Penn from Angel!"

Phil! I totally fell in love with him the first time I saw him! And just a little secret between you and me, Tony Stark's best lines are in this movie. *shhhhh*

Loki was all kinds of awesome. I just love the snarky bad guys, and WOW, did he clean up nice at the museum!

RIGHT? *fans self*

[identity profile] rednihilist.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, cos I really like Chris Evans in that role, and I'm a Cap girl at heart, and of course I've made no secret of the fact that I ship Tony/Steve something fierce. Still, I can understand disappointment regarding casting choices. When it comes time to cast Finnick, I'll likely feel the same as you do in this case if it's anyone but a certain Mr. Hedlund, so. . . *shrug*

Glad you liked the movie, hon!

(P.S. My Natasha icon just for you!)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
I like your casting choice for Finnick--it's perfect!

Ach, I don't know why I don't feel teh Tony/Steve, I know I'm in the minority with that. Also, Chris Evans looks like Ackles not as attractive cousin to me. I like Cap in the movie better than I ever liked him in the comics, though!

Phil/Steve, OTP 4evah! He's not dead, he's sleeping!

[identity profile] altimeterrise.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
"This new fandom is churning out slash like a WWII era propaganda machine"
This line made my night! <3 Ahaha, nothing like fangirls to fuel the war effort (war on what, I'm not sure...having too many hot guys in the same space w/o spontaneous sexual combustion, maybe?)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
LOL!!!!!

omg, why's you not writing mah story??????

Fangirls march ever onward, bringing truth, justice and boys in really tight pants....

I know! I know! *is ashem'd* I got distracted by a shiny new prompt: fox!Jared! How can anyone say no to that - he's so biiiiig...and then he's so *tiny* and smish-able and I must pet him RIGHT NOW! XD

Fox Jared!

Okay, all is forgiven! *GRIN*

*waits for Fox!Jared*

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, Ackles should shoot his agent. Forget firing him. His best years are going to SPN (not saying it's a bad show, but can't be paying what he's worth for the hours he works). His side-projects are mostly shit, art-wise and prestige-wise and we all know that's not for any lack of acting talent or pretty.

That said, I sorta fell in love with Chris Evans when he was playing Jake Jensen in The Losers with JDM, and can't really begrudge him the role of Cap. I saw the first Cap movie and was a little angry at them for giving him such a weenie roll after the transformation. Avengers gave him struggles and humor and nobility in the face of adversity, so I was glad of that at least.

I'm reading Steve Rogers/Tony Stark for the most part. I like that Steve makes him want to be a better man. When they were arguing in the lab, and the engine blew and Steve was like "Put on the suit" and they ran out of the room and Steve like grabbed him around the waist to steady him through the door as the place was rocking. Mmm. And Steve nearly dying getting to the red lever.

Definitely have to see this again and fine more slash. :)

Also, OMG, the Phil/Steve you have outlined here mus become a reality.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
He should!!! His agent is for shit and by the time SpN rolls to a close, what's he going to do? He's screwed entire summer's away doing cons. I know I sound bitter but I just want to see him doing *something* worth him and not another crappy genre film.

I love Chris Evans in fanfic. I love him in J2/Losers gangster smash-ups, but sadly, not so much on the screen. I did like him some in the Avengers but I had to squint really hard to see past my obsession. my Jensen my unreasonable prejudice.

Oooh, I am *so* tempted--maybe just a pornlet for myself...*GGG*

[identity profile] jlvsclrk.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
My favorite was the way Ruffalo (sp?) played Banner and The Other Guy - I think I could ship him (them?) and Tony snarking away at each other in their secret labs. Bruce and anyone but Thor, really - Thor may be pretty but he's just too dim to appeal.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't believe that I didn't mention that his was the *best* Bruce Banner ever! Not to mention a perfect Hulk!
Plus they worked in the line "Hulk smash" adn made it cool! :)

Sweetie, you said it yourself, Nick Fury is a manipulative sob. I love him dearly but he wouldn't hesitate for an instant to lie about Phil's being dead to achieve the ends he needs. The bit about the trading cards was a giveaway I think, that Phil's still alive. Why else would they go out of their way to have Maria Hill mention that they were in his locker, not his pocket?

I loved it to pieces, too. Tuesday night is cheap night at the movies here, I think Lee and I are going to see it again then. :)

*hugs you hard*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I have my fingers crossed it's so!! Phil was so cool. *sigh*

Also THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES FOR THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MOM'S DAY CARD EVER!!! It made my eyes water up, for you and for me. *hugs* You're such an amazing person. I wish I was a tenth as good as you. Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart! &heart; &heart;

Wheee!
:)

I *am* in love. I'll admit, most of my love comes from the incredible fan-fic and utterly hopeless crush on RDJ, but omg! This movie was so bright and flashy and loud and *fun*. So *sparkly*. And all the fics were swimming in my head and i desperately wanted some Clint/Phil action going on and all of the Tony/Steve interaction was *so* the first five chapters in some epic long fic where they fight and piss each other off and then *fight* and have this grudging admiration and then they go their separate ways for a while but can't stop thinking about each other and gradually they fall into Tony sending stupid/weird/funny random texts and Steve sending postcards and once a shot someone took of him on his motorcycle in some desert setting and and and.....
!!!

:)
*ahem*

YES, anyway, yes, omg, Nick and Black Widow and Bruce and just.....everything!
*hands*

Where are some of the best places to find the fic, sweetie? AO3? Here? I see some of it but I know I'm missing a lot.

Ooh, my.

Start with [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman, that will link you to a ton of stuff that is tony/steve heavy but also other comms. Then head on over to AO3 and just search for Avengers stuff of your choice. You can search for just the pairing you like or for everything in that fandom. Prepare to be overwhelmed.

My 'puter is currently toast and i'm on my daughter's laptop so i don't have any of my bookmarks or anything. Drop a PM to [livejournal.com profile] darkhavens, she'll be able to link you to all sorts of comms and things, including tumblrs. Um.....[livejournal.com profile] cobweb_diamond is also a fan and links fic and such in her/his lj frequently.... Wish i could help more! Not having all my bookmarks and tabs is so frustrating! :)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
*be all puzzled*

Okay, tell me what part of the movie I fell asleep on that there's all this Clint/Phil stuff? Isn't Clint Hawkeye? 'Cause I admit I did start poking Mr. R and trying to arrange his arm so it'd be most comfy to me through most of Hawkeye's screen time--except when Natasha knocked him off his feet. She was pretty cool.

[personal profile] tabaqui 2012-05-14 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, Clint Barton = Hawkeye. Sadly, Phil/Clint is not movie canon. It's possible it's comic-fandom/canon, though i don't really know. ([livejournal.com profile] darkhavens would).

So it's all just wishful thinking on my/our part, heh. But the Clint/Phil fic is so fucking awesome really. Most of the fanfic/fandom pairings are Clint/Phil, Steve/Tony, Natasha/Pepper, Thor/Jane, with Bruce sadly left out. We also have a lot of Clint/Darcy (Jane's assistant from the Thor movie) and a smattering of Thor/Loki and Tony/Bruce, Steve/Phil.

Nick Fury is just too rarefied and scary to be boinking any of the team. :)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2012-05-14 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, got ya! I'm sorry to say I never got into Hawkeye--I was never a big fan of *any* of the comic 'verse Archers. I don't know, there was something about Coulson's awkward fan-boying of Cap that lit the slash match for me. :)

If you're up for a WIP, Astolat has a fantastic Avengers story being posted in chapters on AO3. You can find it here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/398023?page=1&view_full_work=true#comments

She writes them all beautifully, but most especially Loki. *melts*
