I've been reading some of my old posts about writing (looking for help) and you know what, some of those posts are funny! I mean like good funny! Ha, that roxy! What a card.

Sadly, I found nothing useful. The next time I break myself out of a slump(god willing) I'm going to leave a message for myself.

"Dear, roxy,

It's me, roxy! I just want to tell you that no matter how much you're crying right now, it will work itself out! You will finish that story! And post it! And no one will read it unless you're torturing Sam apparently, but don't let that stop you! And for god's sake, don't write story after story torturing Sam hoping to get hits at AO3, you attention hoor. By the way, this is how you broke that slump. I think to really get any response on AO3 you have to write Destiel.

RIGHT? Holy shit, I had no idea how much Destial there was out there. It's understandable, since the only other clear ship is incestuous and not everyone can get on board with it. I can definitely see the Dean/Cas, I just don't care.

Sam/Cas is a whole 'nother animal. I wish there was so much more of it. I have no idea where it came from, it just hit me hard one day. Like, "OMG, YAAAAAASSS!!!!!" *shrugs* I have odd moments. :)

Sam/Dean is the only pairing I find 'hot' but any permutation between the three of them is deeply symbolic for me. Sam/Cas would symbolize the healing of the rift in Sam's psyche that's been present ever since Dean went to hell. I do wonder if that's what the writers had in mind when they had Sam and Cas hug. I'm not sure how much of Kripke's symbolism they still care about, but perhaps they're suggesting that once Dean had fallen off the pedestal for Sam he was actually better able to accept himself. That's just speculation on my part cos, these days, I really have no idea what the writers have in mind most of the time.

Taking the symbolism out of the mix, though, I have to say I just don't find Cas a sexual animal. At the start, when he was this mysterious powerful being that could make Dean shake in his shoes, then he had something. But, for me, from the moment they started turning him into Dean's socially clueless comic sidekick he lost that. Sweet and funny he was, to be sure, but sexually charismatic? Not so much.

I agree with you about Cas. Most of the time, I'm imagining ta more original flavor Cas, but there's something to be said for Sam and clueless Cas. If gives Sam a chance to be the big brother to someone who appreciates it. Of course, there are always the D/s flavored stories with Old School Cas. Those can be good too.

I find that last one hard to imagine. I like the idea of Sam plying big brother to Cas, though. I like the fact that Sam and Cas are getting closer this season. It's an interesting turn the way they're humanising Cas, and now he has a head full of movie and literature references they're really just turning him into a normal person, so I wonder how they're going to develop his character. What's he going to bring to the mix if they take away the cluelessness, I wonder? Maybe they're actually planning to reinstate powerful Cas.
