Constantine? hunh!

Did anyone know about this? I didn't! I hope it's decent--the trailer looks pretty good.

Dude. Is it just my imagination, or was I seeing angels, trench coats, holy fire circles, exorcisms, demons, and an imminent apocalypse? And if I was, it it just my imagination that this reads more like a Supernatural spinoff than "Bloodlines" could ever hope to have been???

(Yes, I do realize that it's based on an entirely different property. But. I mean. How would this not appeal to those of us who love SPN?)

Well, I've read that Kripke based Castiel's look off of the original character of Constantine in the first place so, yeah, I'd say this show knows how to capture SPN's traditional audience better than SPN does.

Huh. Well, I wonder if, when SPN's traditional fans all migrate to this show instead, whether the current showmakers will finally realize what it was that its fans wanted from SPN, or an SPN spinoff.

I always thought Columbo, too, til I read that. Wiki and Superwiki cite Eclipse Magazine as the source. I think I did read the original at some point but I can't find the source now. From what I recall, Kripke's original pitch to the network was about a supernatural detective based on the Constantine character, but it didn't fly so he pitched the brothers story instead. Then he wanted to acutally have Constantine as a guest character in the show, but he couldn't get permission from the copyright owners, so he created the character of Castiel instead because, dagnabbit, he was gonna get him in there somewhere! :)

I think we'll get it sooner than that. This is Warner Bros and NBN with writers from Nolan's Batman movies and The Mentalist, and it's based on a hit Keanu Reeves movie. I think our networks are going to want to pick this up pretty quickly.

I'll sure give it a shot. NBC is always a crapshoot, but I like me some Hellblazer and the network's renewed Hannibal for a third season so it's not on my shitlist (like FOX continually is). I don't know about the young, white, female lead, but Constantine himself seems pretty spot-on.

I hope the series is a gritty and don't give a fuck as the books. They did a surprisingly good job of casting John.

This preview trailer looks amazing, almost as good as a movie one! I've read a couple of the Hellblazer comics and they're awesome, so I'm interested to see what they do with the story. Constantine the movie is one of our most re-watched around here, It's hard to say exactly why, maybe the amazing casting, you just can't go wrong with crazy angel Gabriel (Tilda Swinton).

I just saw this today! It looks damn fun. I *love* the movie - and it's hard not to want Keanu there instead of the guy they cast - but still.

I'm really looking forward to it! I like the guy--he's more like the comic instead of the movie. I hope the show is more like the comic--the few I read were wild and wooly!
