Does anyone want to talk to me about this year's BB? Are you doing it? Do you have an idea what you want to do? Anyone wanna help Yer Mother decide? I was nearly certain I wouldn't try this year considering my lack of writing last year, but...it's hard not to think about! And last year I was so lucky! It could happen again! Oy.

I believe in signing up because it keeps your options open and after all it's only 20 K.

Personally I'm not signing up because of the concussion the stress I put myself under to do the SPN Christmas gift just about killed me so I'm all about the stress free writing right now. I'll keep writing but I don't want to have any arbitrary deadlines no matter how distant in the future they are but that's just me.

For you, your brain is working perfectly and if you feel inspiration strike and want to do it go for it! Sign up now and like I said keep your options open. You are a terrific writer and it's always wonderful to see one of your new adventures get posted!!! ❤

I know it's intimidating, but there's plenty of time for either inspiration to strike or for you to drop out if you have to. But you know you want to. Who knows how many more years we'll really have the show to keep the fandom active enough to keep this challenge going?

I guess I do want to--it's one of the few fannish things I participate in. And 10 years! This challenge *is* SpN. I guess I owe it one last shot, lol! My question is, what do I do, J2 or Wincest--'cause Gen is not even an option for me, ha! I feel obligated to do Wincest since I did J2 last year...ah, the dilemma!

Well you didn't ask for my opinion, but I'd say Wincest *ducks* I read both Wincest and J2, so it's not really an issue of preference. But it does seem like there are a lot more J2 fics than Wincest being contributed to the Big Bangs in recent years, and I miss long Wincest fics!

But of course it's all up to you and what you want to write. There'll be lots of us around to cheer you on whatever you decide!

Oh no, I do want opinions! I feel the same way, there aren't enough stories about the boys. I enjoy writing J2, but every BB season, I'm upset by the lack of good wincest. :D

It was the first thing I thought of and I just couldn't resist, hee. But yes, I'd definitely like to see more Wincest in the Big Bangs again. Just looking at the sign ups and how few there are is already depressing me.

We say that with a wince now, but remember back in the day when 20k was a weekend? lol!

I signed up last year completely unsure if I could write the story I wanted to by draft deadline--or finish it by posting date. I missed a lot of stuff last spring while I worked on it. I had my head down every spare minute, slogging through the fic. I wrote 12K of a first draft, and by the week before draft deadline, I knew I could push through and write 20K--but another few weeks wouldn't be enough to write the story I want to tell. So I downed tools and gave myself permission to withdraw from the challenge.

I left it lie fallow for a while, and didn't think about it until it started tapping on the back of my brain. So I wrestled with editing the 12K I have, or dropping back, rethinking my presentation, and starting over.

I decided it was going to take longer and be more frustrating trying to salvage what I'd written, and I've poked and played with a simplified timeline--there was a lot of extraneous stuff in there that couldn't be--didn't need to be salvaged.

So I thought I'd be ready to go on signup day, and you know what? I hate to let it go by, because, what if I do get it finished? If I'm not signed up I can't post it to the challenge, and I hate to feel like I "failed" twice.

But in all honesty this story is a beast and it's kicking my ass, and I'd rather take the time it takes and do it right than try to rush it to make deadline.

So if you have a story idea that you want to tell, go for it. Sign up. Write the heck out of your idea, and if you have to drop back and punt you can do that, but if you get into that groove, I'll sit here and envy you and cheer you on. Go for it!

I want to read this story so much, you don't even know! If you ask me, it's more important to write the story the way it should bewritten instead of worrying about the challenge.

I can't say I have a solid idea, but I didn't have one last year either. Mining the WIP folders worked out for me, and I'm happy I took advantage of the challenge to force myself to finish a story I did want to tell...you know, I want to be a part of this thing as long as possible, I just don't want to cheat my readers. Leaning towards yes, though. :)

I'm so fucking lucky that you're willing to help me out like you do. I've looked through my folders, and there are a few decent ideas in them. I really like a few J2s that I have, but I want to write Sam/Dean. But...they're all so similar to stuff I've written before, oy! I should just throw in the towel and call myself the WincestCurtainFicWriter. Only it's a little long and weird to shorten.

Hey, I was talking to a girl at work who's an SpN fan, but tumblr centric, and she's never heard of Big Bangs. Is that a thing, this not knowing? I could tell she thought it was an old folks thing...sad. *smh*

Also, re your BB fic idea...how dark are we talking? *wibbles*
