Ooooooooooooooo, inked Roxy! I have three. *bounces excitedly and smooches, knows where the perty smiles in the last picture came from in terms of genetics* and your pop cuts a dashing figure in his uniform.
Awww! I too have three! The Rose is inked to look like the stem is piercing my skin--it gets a nice reaction! :) I'll put a pic of the other one up too--it's on the inside of the other arm. I have the Mr.'s initials on the inside of my calf.*blush* Upside down, so he can read it, y'know :)
Yeah, he was a real cute guy, he looked like he was twelve until his forties. A real charmer, that one.
OH, how fun!! What a nice pic, my hubs will love seeing your dad's uniform...yeah, he's a freak too!! (no, just collects militaria, hehe) And...*waves* HI, love!! :D
Well, I got them about a year ago, so I figured it was none of his beeswax--but when he found out he was mightily disgusted, ha! It was a very heart-warming moment.*G*
tha'ts awesome, thanks for sharing!!! but i'm laughing so hard b/c for some reason i thought you were like 20 years old!!! (now i know you are just toally immature like ME!!)
Roxy! *huggles* Hee, so nice to put a face to the beautiful soul. *huggles more* *grins* You have Mikey's initials tattooed on your person? *giggles* Go you! And your father is very handsome, hon. *nods* Yup.
OH! Now I get it! Nawwwwm girl! Mr. Roxy's initials, and it'sd not MR, hah! Hey, much as I wish it, I'm not fucking Mikey, so no initials for him! *SNORT*
Ohh, your whole family is just adorable! Cute you, and the beautiful girls, and your dad who looks so young in his uniform. I love family pictures, thanks for sharing!
Yay! I finally get to see what my Roxy looks like! What a cutie! Dad's a cutie, too.
Pics of African-American WWII guys make me a little sad, though. They risked everything for American freedom, and then came back home, got precious little thanks, and still had to fight for the most basic rights. (Actually, that's true for every war we've been in.) I'm taking a class on MLK and the civil rights movement, so it's really on my mind.
That's so true. If the military had it's way, I'd have never been born. My dad had to fight for a year to get married to my mother. (she was Austrian.) And when they came back to the States, the problems were just beginning.
Looking around I see some progress has been made, but not as much as we'd like to think.Good on you taking the class. The civil rights movement is the most fascinating period of time in this country, I think.
*snickers* from the way you smile one would never have guessed that you wrote Firebird. I bet you can take candy from a baby and still look innocent ^_~.
Ohh your dad was handsome in his uniform. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but seeing this photo, makes WWII that much more real than just looking at photos in history books.

Cat says - and i agree - you look like the Oracle from the Matrix! You know, the lady making all the cookies?
:)
I can't remember - was your dad an airman? For some reason that looks like an airman's uniform to me.
So cool. I love seeing pictures like that.

My pop was Army, he's wearing a day uniform, dressier than fatigues but not a formal dress uniform.
Can you believe that picture is 60 years old????? Well, yeah, you can but me--I'm boggled!

Yep, right after the War he was stationed in Salzburg. He met my beloved Mommy there and they got married and had me-- lucky things! *biggrin*
