I have this story I wanted to post, but I when I read over it, I thought it sounded very familiar and I'm not sure now if I may have lifted bits from someone without realizing it. What would ya'll do in a situation like this? I'm not going to post it because I'm really uncomfortable with it, but I'm just curious, has this happened to anyone else?

Go find the fic you think you lifted from, and re-read. Don't worry if some 'points' are the same - i mean, how many stories about Spike and Xander have them watching movies and getting all lusty?

And if you're still not sure, have somebody ELSE read both, and see what they think.

Any sort of 'lifting' you might have done was purely accidental, i'm sure, so don't sweat it too much.

Thanks, yeah, I read through my stuff real quick thinking I lifted from myself, and tried to think where it came from--just a weird feeling. I will get someone to read it over for me. Just don't want to step on toes, you know!
