Interesting! SV nugget

oh now this is interesting--apparently kryptonite doesn't have to be shielded with lead--ordinary drywall will do.
Whoo-hoo! This makes it easier for us ficwriters, hunh?

What--waddya mean *I* still have to play by the rules--they don't!
Crap.

*pouts*

ETA: buy this premise or I'll shoot this dog?

*dies* Also, if Clark doesn't notice the Kryptonite, it doesn't work. *nods firmly*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
oh goodness, yes, that's scientific fact--I believe it's the Dintseeit Principle.

[identity profile] thecaelum.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Tee hee! Yes, precisely! *adjusts nerdy glasses* Also, if the Plot benefits from Clark not seeing the Kryptonite until he has been in the room for about 10 minutes, then it shall be so. See the Creepy!Lex!Room discovery scene in Covenant for a classic example of this variation.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes.
Erm....nerdy glasses? Are clipboards and a labcoat involved? *mouth go all dry*

[identity profile] thecaelum.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Why yes, yes they are. *g* I can't very well pretend to be an Expert without dressing the part.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oooooooohhh--I mean--oh! Really? *koff* Labcoat you say? *sweat*

[identity profile] thecaelum.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Lab coat, and a nifty little all access security pass. Because an Expert would have that, being all expert and all.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh goodness, yes security, that's very very important and access. Yeeees, one must have...access. All access. And secuirty to have the access, yes.
Must lie down now...possibly with a cold compress.

*whistles innocently and leaves you a present in the other post*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
OH GOD!! I love you--do you know how much I love you?????

[identity profile] thecaelum.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! As much as SV casting loves you? *g*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Heh--yeah. I'm so easy.
*hides grin*

[identity profile] pepperjackcandy.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Seconding this.

So you can basically put anything between Clark and the rocks -- even after Clark has already seen them.

Didn't he knock a bookcase over onto some rocks or rock juice or something once and it worked?

[identity profile] thecaelum.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. That was in S4. I don't recall the episode, I think it was the one where Chloe was strapped down and about to have her brain zapped. Lois was involved somewhere. Much of S4 is a blur. *makes a face at it*

But yes, if I recall correctly, Clark knocked a shelf into some kryptonite. I think the audience was supposed to infer that the GreenK had been knocked out of range, and was no longer harmful to him. The only problem with this is that the range where GreenK becomes actively harmful to him changes all the time, so that scene wound up being a little too convenient.

[identity profile] jennifus.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we learned in the first season that cotton also shields Clark from the Kryptonite, so I'm unsurprised that drywall does, too. Hee.

[identity profile] jennifus.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
That's just speculation, though... for all we know, Whitney only wore cotton/lead blends.

Gah. Show... so... bad. Can't... not... watch...

I know, I know! It's an old building so it must have... lead based paint! Yep, that's it. *nods head*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaaaah! that explains it all!

[identity profile] sadface.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
It's bad that I don't even notice stuff like that anymore isn't it?

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugpat* No, no, honey, that's the magic of Smallville. Now repeat that to yourself five hundred times or so....
