I Only Have This To Say About SV

Yes, yes, effing yes. Finally.
Geez, I feel like I'm in a relationship with an emotionally distant boyfriend. Tonight, I got some crumbs that make me dizzy with joy.

Please don't hurt me next week.

I didn't like Clark beating up Lionel--in fact--coming close to killing him. Tell me again how this sort-of-stupid dick is going to be Supes? I understand he has to grow into the role of good guy, but can you imagine knowing his secret and then knowing he did that? Wouldn't you worry? I understand that they're portraying Clark as a teen, with a teenager's concerns and worries, that's he's deeply affected by the death of his father--but--what version of Superman would do that? The way things go on SV, Clark is the sole reason that Lex becomes this evil, Superman obsessed villain.

Right now, the most Lex is guilty of is a rather large ego, and an intense desire to be valued. I guess Clark and his prissy attitude push him over the edge, poor misunderstood snoogums.

All I gotta say...Lex in a leather coat! *dead* Actually I've got more *is resurrected*, I completely understand Lex's journey to evildom and if they cop out and make Lex become truly evil because he's now Zod that will suck. That's not based on spoilers cause I haven't read any in months, but that's what I was getting from the promo. I want Lex to become full on evil because of the way Lionel raised and abused him and because Clark turned his back on him. I don't want ZodLex.

Leather Coat!!!

It does look like it doesn't it? Which, on the one hand, folks like me can say, "AWWWW!! SEE? Not EBOL--POSSESSED! Woobie!" And on the other hand, is major stupid.
Oooo, but imagine the angst-filled story one could create using that muffin!
you know, kind of like SpN tonight. *grin*

I hope we get a scene where Clark pens ZodLex and is about to serve the final blow(hee. dirty!), and Lex is all "please don't kill me Clark" and Clark has to hesitate cause so much love comes flooding back. Then ZodLex will knock the shit out of him;)

//Tell me again how this sort-of-stupid dick is going to be Supes? I understand he has to grow into the role of good guy, but can you imagine knowing his secret and then knowing he did that? Wouldn't you worry?//

At the point of him opening the keg of whupass on Lionel, he was working under the idea that Lionel was involved in his Dad's death as well as being responsible for the virus threat. Superman works with the police and has routes for justice, Clark as an individual can't go to the police and demand justice. He somewhat has to take it in his own hands--until he finds a better way.

//The way things go on SV, Clark is the sole reason that Lex becomes this evil, Superman obsessed villain...I guess Clark and his prissy attitude push him over the edge, poor misunderstood snoogums.//
See, that's spoken like a loving parent :D I'm coldhearted and cynical. I'm treating Lex like a sibling because game recognize game. Yes, Clark has a hand in all this, but Lex controls his own destiny and he's chosen so many times to go to the darkside and he uses Lionel's lessons and lack of love (or the type of love Lex wants) to justify his choices. If Lex had only not given Clark so much power over him emotionally, he wouldn't be on this path. Never trust a big butt and a smile; more like never trust big lips and a smile.

*blink blink*
Damn.
You're right. Wow, Lex is way better than I thought! Look at how cleverly my little snoogums manipulated my emotions, making it all about him and his boo-boos! He's pretty *and* smart!

If Lex had only not given Clark so much power over him emotionally, he wouldn't be on this path.
Seriously, I get what you're saying, and you're right. *sigh* 'm such a fangirl...

[identity profile] carolandtom.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
As a Clark lover, I always suffer when I read those things.

But I love you, Roxy.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no--I know when I'm being wrong, and what I wrote was a knee-jerk reaction to seeing Clark beat up Lionel like that. It upset me.

As lj user="dawnybee'> points out, Lex is just basically a better liar than Clark. And when it comes to Lex, I am kind of stupid. *grin*

[identity profile] clexlover.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
CarolandTom, I so agree with you. I am sadden that people treat Clark who is the hero with disdain, and applaud Lex the emerging villan, but I guess it is their right.

I adore Clark, even if I am disappointed in him at times, but he will learn and his heart is normally in the right place. And, as much as I love Lex. he is evil and he chose that path...he didn't have to, regardless of everything that happened to him, he is made of stronger stuff.

Clark lies but so does Lex, and Clark not trusting Lex and turning his back on him is no reason to go bad and turn onto the path of evil. And do you remember the things that Lex did, to make Clark behave the way he does. Yes, Clark is a bit self righteous at time and should be more tolerant but he is inexperience and at times his emotions ruled him..he will learn and in time, be more considerate and discerning.

Even when Lex does something good, you know it people, he has an ulterior motive. Yes, he had some really brutal knocks from life, he is sexy, and cunning and brillant, but at his core, regardless of how much he is loved and trusted, he will gravitate towards being bad more than to being good...because that is the nature of Lex.

Look how Lex is manipulating Lana and deceiving her even as he gives her some truths while at the same time subtly undermining Clark.

I really love my Clex, and would love my boys together in love and passion, forever... but alas, it is not so. And in the end, despite his current shortcomings, I chose Clark.

Have a great night *smile*

Awwww, clexlover, your post warms my heart! So many good points and great thoughts!

Thank you!

[identity profile] mkitty3.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I get insanely frustrated with Clark, but he's not responsible for the choices Lex has made over the years. I do think Clark played a part in Lex's development, just as Lionel and the whole town of Smallville did. It makes me sad that Lex wasn't stronger. Clark could have chosen the wrong path a hundred times over(and sometimes he did), but in the end, good won out. It goes to the core of the show, and that's family. If Lex had been raised by the Kents in their world, he would have turned out just fine and Clark would have been turned into a monster if he were raised by Lionel.

However, Lex was not the villian last night IMO. He truly believed he was doing what was right for mankind by developing these vaccines. Like so many of Lex's other good intentions, fate stepped in and turned it upside down. Has he been wrong in the past? Absolutely, but last night was about doing something good. I don't really see any ulterior motives other than maybe the glory of saving the world. So, my kneejerk reaction was to scream "ass" when Clark assumed the worst. Clark should always assume the worst about Lex at this point though.

(Anonymous) 2006-05-11 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I strongly disagree when you claim that Lex always has an ulterior motive. Have you forgotten "Jitters"? He walked in, unarmed, to turn himself over as a hostage to a crazy guy with a gun, in a plant that was filling with methane and about to blow up, just to get everyone else safely released. What was his ulterior motive there? To get something nice written in his obituary? Get real. Lex is capable of great loyalty and great unselfishness and great courage and self-sacrifice. If he's turning to the darkness now, I totally blame Lionel, Jonathan and Clark.

[identity profile] lastscorpion.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
I hate the way it's okay for Clark to beat people up! That's just not right! And, with all due respect to [livejournal.com profile] dawnybee below, Clark as an individual can't go to the police and demand justice. He somewhat has to take it in his own hands is a recipe for societal disaster. Bah.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but now that I've had some time to think, I believe the point of that scene was to show us that Clark has raised to have a strong moral compass (no matter what we may personally think of Bo) and will in the end choose ther right thing to do. Clark relies on more than just the "ghost of Jonathan" to show him what's right, he know deep in his heart what's right.
And Lex doesn't. Lex makes the choice that seems right on the surface, but he either can't or won't see negative consequences--like for god's sake collecting all those viruses in one place--he knows his security is for shit! *g*

[identity profile] dare2venture.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but he also suspected Milton Fine was up to something, and so he was playing along until he had the means to thwart Fine. Remember 'keep your enemies closer'? If Lex is guilty of anything here, it's overconfidence. However, I'm not sure how misplaced this confidence is. After all, he is brilliant and has tremendous resources, without being fettered by the sort of bureaucracy that would come into play if a government agency was having to deal with Fine, let's say. I think Lex did his best in this instance. I also think he was right on the mark when he told Clark that Clark had lost Lana all by himself, that it wasn't right to blame Lex. I love Clark, but he is awfully immature sometimes. I was glad to see him smiling a little at the end of the episode -- maybe he's finally getting it?

Hi, by the way. I enjoy your stories:-)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Lex would do better all the way around if he wasn't driven by a need to be loved and admired. I also think he's lacking a fundemantal understanding of right and wrong, the one that Clark has. I think he hoped that Clark's positive atributes would rub off on him. Of course, I might be projecting a bit...*grin* And yes, Clark can be so annoying sometimes, but then I guess so can any kid that age. *eyeballs her own children*

Hey there! And thanks so much! *happygrin*

[identity profile] lastscorpion.livejournal.com 2006-05-07 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
like for god's sake collecting all those viruses in one place--he knows his security is for shit! *g*

LOL! Okay, that's a very good point.

Since we're all in mom-mode about Clark, though, I'd have to say, "Clark, honey, if Lex Luthor jumped off of a bridge, would you jump off of a bridge?" Lex being dumber than lint (okay, evil lint!) doesn't make it okay for Clark to repeatedly throw elderly neighbors thirty feet into walls, doggonit!
