He held Lex and begged him to tell him the same, that he’d never give Clark up, and Lex listened and realized just how deep and meaningful, so all consuming and so everlasting a teenager’s first love is, and he went cold.

All of Lex's good intentions out the window and for naught. He is so convinced it will never work.

But it can! It happens, rarely but it happens! I'm still married to my first love, so I have faith this is going to work out. So there. *hands on hips*

I do love this story.

Oh Roxy! You almost made me cry... again! Clark just wasn't giving Lex a chance to say no. If Clark has his way, this will work out between then.

Are you? That's so cool! And as you know, so very very rare....
I'm so glad you like this story! *beams*

Oh dear! So sorry to make you cry!
And Clark's not finished growing up yet....

I know it seems like it almost never happens. Who would guess that funny guy who was the first and only guy I dated would still be around 33 years later. I'm just lucky that way. And that's why I believe in twoo wuv. :-D

Ehi, Roxy,
I really think it can work, too.

Way to go, Danceswithgary!
It's not a coincidence I really love your story too. ^_______^

So, please, Roxy,
Let be Lex wrong about the future.

No Damocle, here, please.

Your description of Lex's disposition towards all things wrong--the tree metaphor--was so deep and touching. Once again, you are brillant. I know it's wrong for Lex to give in and be with Clark while he's like this, but it feels so right, and of all the things that have happened between them, this one feels like a second chance.

Poor Lex, the pain is coming like a storm and the fallout is...going to be great.

Man, this was FANTASTIC!

wow, thank you!! I'm never sure if the emotions I want to convey come through--so your comment makes me doubly happy!

I can't blame Lex for giving in to Clark here (the poor man's been in love with him so long and so utterly without hope), but I know it's all going to go terribly wrong, and Clark will -- again -- blame Lex for everything.... *cries*
