help me, my friends!

I need music for the apocalypse—can you suggest songs? Any thing, any type of music. What says the end of the world to you? It doesn't have to specifically say, 'lordhelpmehavemercy, it's the end of the world, we're all fucked'—Lou Reed's Berlin album puts me in the mood to write deeply angsty,' it's all over' kind of stuff and it's basically just an album long account of a nasty breakup.

I need a soundtrack for my King Challenge, (I have a title—see how I restrained myself from saying "I has title?" hmm? Yeessss…) I need it also for my SpN fic that I'm working on at the speed of glaciers mating. But, it's wonderful in my head. *grin*

Here's a bit>> A coyote trots past the car, and stops to look inside. Dean is sound asleep, his mouth a little slack, wet…Coyote shakes his head. Shame. It sits and its mouth lolls open, laughing. Funny boys. Good company though.

*snort* seriously, it's going to be fun….

So! *rubs paws* Help a sister out?

Honestly, Ministry and Skinny Puppy both bring to mind the end of the world to me. They're both just ugly, screechy, rag-tag, rotting music. Love it. Love 'em *all*.

:)

SP - Cleanse, Fold and Manipulate and Too Dark Park.
M - The Land of Rape and Honey, The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste and Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs

Wheeeee!

Skinny Puppy? That's their name? *goggle* You kids with your rockety roll music....

thanks beloved--I'll check it out! *kissy*

ahhhhh...that was a little bit like...like having a can factory have sex and then explode in my head. Goodness. *blinkblink*

I'm really into Baby Girl I'm a Blur by Say Anything right now.

It's more about love but there's a line about: On the roof, burning black, the city smoked from the attack
But on the roof, we love the beast to death
The sweat and whiskey breath

That's more godzilla/cloverfield but still. It's got a harsh feeling to it as well.

ANYTHING by She Takes Revenge sounds creepy

*pokes* You have the day off, you should watch Entourage

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
I might do that--our local video store's supposed to have it.

And thanks--the SpN story is going to have lots of monsters, so I'll check that music out. ;)

Oh! I have a copy of "Baby, Can You Dig Your Man" (not the original king lyrics but still, it's got the chorus of "baby can you dig your man? he's a righteous man")if you want it. You are doing one based on The Stand right? Can't have the Stand without BCYDY :D

I think I've heard it, but if you don't mind, yes please!

Andrew W.K.-- Ready to Die
Blue Oyster Cult-- Don't Fear the Reaper
Dropkick Murphys-- Buried Alive
Green Day-- Having a Blast
The Living End-- End of the World
The Living End-- Starin' At The Light
The Living End-- Wake Up
The Offspring-- End of the Line
Pulley-- Second Best
Saints of 35th Street-- So You Wanna End It All?

I guess most of these aren't apocalyptical, if that's even a word, which it's not, but they're about death and are angsty. A personal apocalypse, if you will.

...sorry, I'd do better, but it's bed time.

How Far We've Come - Matchbox Twenty. SHAME ON ME not remembering that one!

Well, I'm a Radiohead fan. . . and a Nine Inch Nails fan, so there's a lot of them on here. My 'end of the world' soundtrack would definitely include:

Analyse by Thom Yorke

Videotape by Radiohead

In This Twilight by Nine Inch Nails

Heroes by David Bowie (don't ask me why, it just always struck me as so final)

All Apologies by Nirvana

Right Where It Belongs by Nine Inch Nails

Head by Virto

Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve

(You Come In) Burned by The Dandy Warhols

and these next two have to follow each other

Hunting Bears . . .
and
Spinning Plates by Radiohead

I hope some of them are useful. . .

Heroes by David Bowie (don't ask me why, it just always struck me as so final

yeah, me too!
Thanks so much for your suggestions--I have the greatest flist ever! *hugs*

*pssst* By the by, I'm just about finished with another pseudo-chapter of CFMWH. And you might like this one. . . it's from Bruce's POV.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
omg--seriously? *joy*

Can I rec it in my LJ, I mean, big pimping? Not many folks pay attention to me, a few do. I wasn't sure how you felt about it.

[identity profile] rednihilist.livejournal.com 2008-01-30 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Can I rec it in my LJ, I mean, big pimping?

Sure. Be sure to put down that it's my first really semi-lengthy SV fic. I just kinda jumped in there, so there might be some. . . discrepancies. And just for you. . .

Heeeeeeeeere's BRUCIE! Gonna be done tonight, and I'll post it within the next hour. *gives you the thumbs-up*

Despite your having pointed out that the songs don't literally have to include those words, two that come to mind for me are "Totally Fucked" from Spring Awakening and Headstones' "It's All Over." Actually, Headstones' "Oh My God!" and probably quite a few others of theirs work as well. Of the 'more angst, less anger, but it's still over' variety are several songs from Tom McRae's Just Like Blood, which I can also share. I'm sure I'll think of more but will stop there at this point.

Wow, thanks--I'm kind of amazed at the response--and it's really interesting to see what folks see as end of the world type songs. I liked Totally Fucked by the way.

Not a typical gloom and doom song and very anvilicious because it has “End of the World” in the title,
Preaching the End of the World: Chris Cornell, but I love the song and its tone because I hope that if I should have to be around for the apocalypse, I would face it head on--no fear, just sitting in a cave with someone waiting for a nuclear blast. Or when the aliens or robots come. However it should go down.

here's some

So first thoughts were of Evanesence and My Chemical Romance. I LOVE Black Parade and Hello. I'm attaching a podlist, let me know if you have issues I also have all the songs but e-mail will only let me send them to you two at a time. : (
