hunh.

So, instead of writing, I've spent the better part of the day reading a honking big ole story that most of the time has me scratching my head going, "Oh? really? Hunh." And I just can't stop. Somebody, make me stop.

Man, I hope folks aren't looking over my shoulder going, what teh efff? on what planet do the boys act like that? But no, seriously you guys, I have a reason for why they act like they do in every story I write, really. Well, except for Whit. And Wade. And I like to think I've just made Pete a little more interesting. Also, I declare Lucas is totally in character, no matter what I have him do. Lana, I've gone both ways, good and bad, but the most fun I had was writing her as Pete's girlfriend in BOS.

Ah, the telling of a story...s'mores and campfires, broken hearts and bloody hooks...I love everything about it!

Honey, if your guys in your stories are too Au or OOC, then mine SURE as hell are! *g*

No, no--to me your characters are *logically* what they are--Lin is Clark if he'd been raised in that situation. To me his reactions are Clark's just twisted a bit out of true by Lionel. His basic nature is the same. Lex is Lex, to me he reads as a younger, slightly more naive version than on the show. But this is why I love AUs! Seeing how the boys react in different circumstances, seeing what changes and what stays the same.

Oh, *mwaaaaaa!* roxy. You just made my day a whole lot less dreary (me hads a bad day *pouts*)!

It was, thank you! I updated, too, so maybe that will return the favor in a way? *wink*

Isn't it incredible fun to twist them a bit? It's so great that you understand me, you know? And my weee friends...*G* Voices? There are no voices....

Hmmm. As you know, I've spent quite a lot of time reading SPN & J2 stuff, and LOTS of it is so ooc it makes my head spin. But. When it's a good writer, I can believe a heck of a lot, even if the core characterization is different than what I tend to think of it as. That goes even more so for AUs--in my opinion, believability in those is all about writing skill. And that, my dear, you have by the truckload. So, though I can't vouch for all of your AUs, due to my prolonged Smallville fic hiatus, I can say that in every story by you I've ever read your characterization has made sense to me, and has not made me roll my eyes and wonder what crackpipe you were smoking--unlike many other authors I've read recently.

Oh, p.s., in reference to our conversation a while back about J2 authors turning TW and MR into total jerks: there's a recent bigbang story, "The Wall," where TW has a fairly sizeable role, and while it looks initially like he's being written like a jerk, I think you would really like the resolution. Also it's a very sweet and romantic story. (Though if you have limited time, I'd read "Any Road will get you there," which is just an adorably sweet J2 epistolary romance, complete with hilarious LOLcats--and all the CW supporting cast are completely nice and not evil).

Edited because I can, actually, speak English. When I pay attention, anyway.

*clings to you* You say things that make my heart soar!

OMG! I just read "Any Road"! And I'll definitely check out the Wall--those RPSers are getting on my nerves so bad, bad-mouthin' my boys, I'm about to write my own, lol!

There's a fic I lost, and I wish I could find it again, mostly because they write Thomas a little like a douche and call him Big Tommy. *happy sigh* I only got a bit into the first chapter and lost it. (you know how i do...)

Well, there's always [livejournal.com profile] spnstoryfinders

Wasn't "Any Road" just tons of fun? I don't usually even like LOLcats, but all the silly graphic stuff just cracked me up. Especially the proof that Jensen was the ginger cat.

*snorfle* Ginger beard!

AWWWW! POOR THOMAS!!! He was so cute--I really appreciated that she was nice to himm in the end!

How come I can read romances like this and adore them, but make it a guy and a girl and I'm all "YAWN."

But then again, I'm reading, and I'm seeing those eyelashes, that nose, that pretty, pretty man...

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2008-07-24 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Why you're reading a story about them being OOC? Because sometimes we want to read them that way? Or you want to read something different than what most of the writers out there are doing? Or, it's just really well written so who cares if it's a bit (or way) AU? LOL

The SpN Big Bang one that I'm reading now it probably OOC but I don't care. I love it and I'm rereading it for the second time in two days. LOL

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at the moment, I'm reading everything just about at the Big Bang. And some of them are ouchie, most of them are oh, really? that's cool! I love AU's very much--and not just because they give you almost free rein to go buck-wild!

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I just went back to the big bang site and started reading. Some have been blah, some I've read twice in the past two days. LOL

AUs are fun to play with and to read. They make me feel better around the Freaking Huge Epic. If there can be that much AU and crack, then my story is ok. LOL

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
OY, which I haven't read yet because I suck! I'm hoping to do that tonight! *hughug* Sorry!

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
*HUGS* LOL It's ok. I know you've had a lot to do lately. Take your time and when you're not busy, help me smack the Muses with spoons to keep them focused!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! *icon love*

Polishing spoons now! *G*

I think the fun part of SV (and comics in general) is that writers have more freedom with the characters. There's always something that can affect a character and have them act a certain way. And if any of your SV fics are OOC... I haven't noticed. Maybe it's cuz I just don't care... you make them just so much fun to read anyways. :D

AWWWWWWW! You just like me, that's all! *hughughug*
