The way I look at it, you can safely have them both, because the dynamics are completely different. With Clark and Lois, you can have the relationship drama simmering under the surface, but it's all funny because her energy is so incredibly different from Lex's, so she brings out a completely different side of Clark. (And boy, howdy, am I liking that side so far. ::fans self::)

I think it's the lack of the ~~Lana-whining~~ AlMiles that's making this season so watchable, Tom's finally being allowed to shine again.
