Heck yeah!

I'm rapidly approaching—heck, might as well say I am—55 years old. That's the age that, when I was 20, I used to think, 'well they lived a long, full, life', when discovering someone of that age had passed away. Yes, age lends perspective.

This age, this year, leads me to think of opportunities missed, of goals not realized. We all of us (well, some of us) have desires and goals we wanted at a young age and now find ourselves looking back and regretting not going for it. For me, there are quite a few goals I never reached—but I regret very, very, few. I've done something brilliant in this life—I'm BG's mom, I'm married to a man I think the sun rises and sets on. But still, late at night, we think about what night have been, if we'd only….

So, in that spirit, I've decided to do something about that, friends. I'm going to reach for the stars—that's right.

I'm running away to join the circus.

Ciao, babies!

Oooo, it's the daring young lady on the flying tarpeze! That's right, I said young. My grandmother was winning hula and diving competitions in her 50s (she lived to 109, and only died then because she decided to). My grandfather (on the other side of the family)retired from his career as a well known doctor in his 70s, took up the hobby of hybridizing Japanese iris and became world famous for it and wrote two books on the subject (died at 102).

I think 50-60 is the new middle age, and it's great that you want to pursue your dreams. Say hello to the lions and elephants for me.

Heeee!!!
