SpN reaction
Brief, non-thinky reaction! I loved it! I loved every little bit of it, from the EWWWWWWW moments to the AWWWWWWsob moments. Damn, that was a good show! I love how SpN really pulls out the stops sometimes--remember Parent Eating Santa? Heck yeah! It's the only show on TV that's ever made me hide my eyes because it's too intense--I kinda like that. I know it's not going to go the lengths a flick would go, so it's good icky fun--never going to be so rare that I wish I'd never seen it. In fact, when SpN gets icky it reminds me of those 70s horror flicks, where the action was half a second from making you laugh and scream at once as you're diving for the seat back in front of you to hide your eyes!
Ah, the old days, before movies got so technically good they make you vomit from the realism. And in conclusion--you kids get the fuck off my lawn.
Ah-hem...there was a bit of Sam/Cas last night...at least to my deluded eyes. I must say, I'm enjoying my 'stick-my-fingers in my ears, screw up my eyes and yell LALALA' delusion very much. *BEAMS*

I love your description of the horror films of the 70s. They have gotten too 'good' haven't they - at least with the special effects, the story quality is about the same. *g*

Really! When I was a kid I went to every horror film released, but around about the Alien era, I started to scale back. That movie scared me for life, lol!!

Alien was so awesome but yeah, scared my sister and me all to hell and back. Jayzus.
I still love it.

Oh man.
My sis and i went to see it with my dad. Coming home, we stopped at the top of our driveway - no lights, woods - and my sis got out to grab the newspaper. My dad goes 'watch out for the alien!' and omfg.
I thought we would both die. My poor sister cried! Man, it was fucking scary.

tsk-tsk-tsk! Come on now girl--it's up to us to spread the word! Mind you, it was a very heavy Dean/Cas ep too, but my heart is big--I have room for both!

So, where was the Sam/Cas that I foolishly missed?

And that is a hotass icon of Sam. Don't suppose you have the pic where it came from?

This episode made me think of the "Anti-Claus" thing, too. As in at first they thought that it was a major holiday figure, but it turned out that was about as dumb as it sounded, and it was something bigger than that. I really loved that episode, too, as I did this one (and it didn't even have Cas in the old one!). Even though Trickster got absorbed into the "Xtian" mythos being used in this universe, I generally enjoyed their usage of pagan figures. (Aside from Samhain and trashing witches, which just annoyed the everlovin crap out of me.)

Yeah, I'm not too on board with the show's single view of witches but I figure they need supernatural foes.

Yes.
Uber-technical special affects anymore kind of bore me. I mean - they're nothing much if the story sucks.

Man.
I think he will be. I think if they don't get a sixth season, we'll see some healing in the last episode. And if they get a sixth season, i think that most of it will be concerned with plain hunting, healing, Dean and Sam both coming to terms with what they've been through, what they've done, all they've lost....
*crosses everything*

Poor empty-Dean. I kinda saw that coming, but still. . . I was hoping after he and Cas had that talk (around the mouthfuls of masticated cow meat) that it really *was* just a case of well fed!Dean and not. . . more Dean whumpage.
*le sigh*
*glomps Show*

And now maybe it's just me, but I really didn't see any Sam/Cas. Actually, when I first saw Cas sitting next to Sam at the restaurant instead of Dean, it made me wonder, but... I did notice that in all the times Cas was next to Dean, he invaded his personal space in a way he never does with Sam.
The thing that bothers me about Sam/Cas, is last week we got Cas calling Sam his friend, but just because he says it, doesn't make it true. I want to see some scenes where there are actually friendship-like things going on between them.
