forever young

I can't imagine how the people of my youth have aged. I can't believe I'm aged. It's always a horrible shock complete surprise to see the little gray-haired old lady in the mirror. Young folks roll their eyes at us old people and hiss 'act your age', but we're just acting how we feel inside.

Since I can't seem to write, I've been cleaning up some of my old stories with an eye to posting them at my pretty DW. It's...interesting, ha! Anyway, I'm having fun doing that, at least. I've been dreaming about NTM, but not in any kind of productive way. It's all murky, twisted, and incomprehensible...just the direction the story is taking. *giant pout*

Snort. I was just thinking something along these lines today. I was wondering if I'll still be in fandom when I'm 60. I guess that's kind of a long time away, but I can tell you now, I have a hard time relating to my childhood friends, who seem to be popping out the babies right now. Whaaat? And every time I go to Pac Sun to buy my clothes, I feel like a perv among all the 14 year-old girls.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL!

I've been in and out of fandom in different ways since I was in my twenties and found out that fandom was this big thing out there, calling my name. :) It might change as you get older but probably never really let you go. *cue creepy music*

[identity profile] garryowen.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we nerdy/geeky people age better. *nods* I'll be spending that social security check on comics, which I'll read on whatever newfangled device people are using for reading in the future. Probably a chip in my brain.

I'm 45 which makes me older in fandom too. :) I have a five yr. old and he reminds me all the time that things don't get less fun becasue you get older - so hide me some Easter eggs already! The mirror is often a surprise - I don't feel that much different and I plan on enjoying things and letting people look at me funny if they want!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Heck yeah! If it makes you feel better, I think of 45 as adorably young. :) And also, I'll probably be hiding eggs or something like it for my 23 year old...hah!

[identity profile] locknkey.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You are awesome! :)

I see no reason anyone should stop doing things they enjoy becasue of their age and society can suck it up if they don't like it. :)

[identity profile] myownghost.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
oh yeah, the me in my mind's eye has brown hair and nice, tight skin (i.e., no wattle *g*). it really is a shock to see myself!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooo, my self-image is me at thirty, only hotter, lol!! I was looking pretty good then....*G*

That mirror thing is kind of sucky sometimes. Even as crappy as I feel sometimes, being over fifty seems like just an arbitrary (and completely inaccurate) number. *grin*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Right??????

Except for when I go to run up the stairs and my knees start cussing me out...*G*

[identity profile] rosy5000.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Age has never mattered to me. My mom is 66 and we have so much fun together and she definitely crushes on younger actors (to her anyways... Johnny Depp, beware if she ever meets you lol). If there are two male leads in a show/movies, we usually fight over who's better and not often agree. hehe

And my best friend is 20 years older than me but she definitely doesn't act it either. She's such a bad influence on me. *grins*

So I love it when "older" people act young and have fun. :D

*huggles* ♥

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
You're so smart, lol! And your mom is cool! But so are you--you just embrace everything, you have the best taste, and a huge heart! Just from knowing you, I think your mom must be a terrific person. *HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS*

[identity profile] dawnybee.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't believe I'm aged

Bah! Don't say "aged". Aged makes you sound like someone gumming mush and watching "Father Dowling Mysteries." It is about how you feel inside. It's like that segment in "The Twilight Zone Movie" with the older folks turning into kids. Just minus the falling helicopters. You're still young yet, roxymisssrose!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
hmmm...Father Dowling Mysteries you say? *mumbles some mush*

HAAA! It's whippersnappers like you that keep me young, little lady! *does Jensen leap*

[identity profile] emeraldsedai.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so with you on the feeling way, way, WAY younger than that lie in the mirror!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Really! There's no way that wattley old woman with the crow's feet and the triple chin is *me*! Not when I'm a dead ringer for Alicia Keyes!

[identity profile] emeraldsedai.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You are! *looks at Alicia Keys pictures* That's amazing!

Me, I'm a not-dead-yet ringer for Elisabeth Rohm--or so [livejournal.com profile] kispexi2 avers.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
*whistles* Heeeellooooo, nurse!

[identity profile] patrese1.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Its only the age of the spirit not the body that counts! So you are definitely young! "Big Hug".

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oy, in that case, I'm *ridiculously young!!
*GRIN*

*HUGS*

[identity profile] herohunter.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Gosh, don't I know it, beloved!

If only my body could keep up with my mental age now!

:P

*snuggles you*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-03-31 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
tchah, my infant--you have yeeeeeeears to go before you wake up wondering who the hell's beaten the crap out of you while you were sleeping, lol! Oy, some days it's like my joints have been replaced with Rice Krispies! *HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS*

Dude, i so know the feeling. I may *look* my age - and i do, i don't mind - but inside, i'm eighteen. Crazy crazy.
*twirls you*

Being blocked is so annoying. Bah!
*pet pet pet*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yes!!! I'm a spring chicken inside! So to speak...*G*

Being blocked is verging on painful now! *cries like a little girl*

[identity profile] silsbee329.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
What happened to my days of buying Tiger Beat and 16 magazine?? I cannot tell you how relieved I feel these days when I find out my latest celeb crush is at least over 30!! LOL (And yeah, I play with LEGOs. SUE ME!! *chases kids off her lawn*)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
LOL!!!

Say, nothing wrong with Legos! My pretty Lex and Clark dollies action figures think it's just fine!

(Anonymous) 2010-04-01 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Me, I still mostly feel like I did when I was 16, but I was kind of an old 16. :) Don't have the energy or the metabolism (God, to be able to make rib places regret "All you can eat" night again), but mentally, 16 inside.

--Jessica, not yet 40, but getting there

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-04-01 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww! My infant! Don't worry, I promise, forty is *fabulous*!!! I *loved* my forties! I had no idea how great I looked, and how good I felt, lol!

I'll probably be saying this about my 50s when I'm 66...*grin*

(Anonymous) 2010-04-01 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
My mom's in her 50s, and she was running me into the ground a week after her thoracoscopy. Bring 40 on!
