Post the first lines from your last 20 stories. Do you see a pattern?

Interesting, no?

The pattern I found was that I am more long winded than prolific. :) For my last twenty stories I had to go all the way back to 2008!

eta: cutting this to spare my friends--too beeg!

20)When Dean woke up, there was a split second in which he thought he was back in Hell, or still in Hell. He stank, he hurt, all over. Wherever he was, it smelled like rotting meat, like piss and shit.(just before dawn--spn)

19) "What do you want to do now?" (that clitney thing--sv)

18) "Lex! Come out in the garden, I have surprise for you!" (no two snowflakes are alike--sv)

17) "Really, I'm asking you not to embarrass me. I mean—I--I don’t mean embarrass me…" Sandy winces, stares at him in the mirror. (a gone world--cwrps)

16) "This the place?" (non timebo mala--spn)

15) The first time it happens, Dean is crouched under the blankets and sheet of yet another anonymous motel--no jackalope on these walls, no scintillating disco-ball overheard light, or avocado and tangerine wallpaper. (a trickle of strangers—spn)

14) They didn't stop running until they'd slung themselves into the Impala—Sam hitting the seat so hard he'd piled up against Dean, panting, sweating and feeling inches from a scream and it was telling how freaked Dean was that he didn't shove Sam back against his door. (scales--spn)

13) "Lex Luthor, you stand convicted of the destruction of a member world of the Commonwealth, of crimes against the citizens of Earth, and by extension, crimes against the Commonwealth. (the lonely—sv)

12) The stupid door bounces against the frame when he tries to open it, it rebounds and smacks him in the arm and hurts like a motherfucker. (under the california sun—spn)

11) "Hey Lex! Your um, butle—house—guy, let me in." (almost--sv)

10) Fire. (must have won--spn)

9) At three o clock, Dean wipes his hands off on a shop rag, getting a little smear of grease on his forehead. (twilight time--spn)

8) It starts out with a bike. (lodi--spn)

7) The sun is a hot white eye in a sapphire sky, burning low over the buildings.... (midnight sun--sv)

6) About twenty-three hours after he'd picked Sam up, reeking of smoke, hard faced and teetering on the edge of nuts, he cracked. (two--spn)

5) Dark out on the ridge, up by the look-out.(dark on the ridge--spn)

4) Lex wasn't really surprised that Gotham hadn't changed much since the last time he'd been there…it was only three years past, cities didn’t change that much but…. (all yours--sv)

3) The chains dragged against the floor, chiming in an oddly cheerful sort of way against the concrete as they shuffled across the floor and into the cell. (and run)

2) "Aaah—ah--Unh!" (time and tide--sv)

1) Sun glowed at the edge of the meadow, poured through the leafy canopy above them, made the white flowers of woodruff dotting the deep green glow like tiny lights, painted Clark's skin liquid gold. (unleashed--sv)

i don't know about you, but i think a motel room without jackalope pictures is a sad, sad thing.

>"Aaah—ah--Unh!"

hmmmm. interesting.

hee! It ended up being a sad story!

And the second one...hah! it was interesting, yes. ;)

I love #7 (but you already knew that). :-D

*HUGS*

I wrote some pretty darn good stuff for that challenge! :) Thanks so much!!

Certainly got a variety of opening lines, from one word to long. #11 always make me giggle. Oh Clark! lol

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
heee! Clark--he just makes me laugh! :)

Just reading these makes me want to reread all the SV ones (never could get into spn alas). I'm off to giggle at #11.

Thank you!! It makes me happy you want to reread! :)

There's a lot of variety here! Some short and blunt, some long and florid, a few dialog lines, a couple of fantastic scene descriptives--it's great! Several of them really sucked me in, too.

When I saw the meme, I snorted. Twenty fics? I don't HAVE 20 fics. And I think almost every one of the ones I do have starts with a line of dialog. Huh. Is that bad?

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to me--I love stories that start with dialog--I like jumping right in!

Ah, so many friends you've given us!

Although I adore The Lonely to bits especially. And Lodi. And Midnight Sun! Also that Two. Mmmmm.

:) Yay! I think the pattern is you write good stories. Is that it? Did I get it right? *Mwhaaaaa*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Oh, good--I thought the pattern was that I'm a weirdo!

The Lonely I was never to sure about--I felt like Lex was fighting me. Midnight Sun--oy, that just flowed, just like Two. That Twilight Zone challenge was like gold for me! :)

Well, you may not be writing as many stories, but they're long and good.

Thank you so much! Every time I think I'm going to write a short little ficlet, it turns into a huge story! :)

So many good stories is the only pattern I see. I enjoy all of these that I've read, and your first lines make me want to read the ones I haven't (they also make me want to reread the ones I have). #11 is my favorite. I just love the fumbling-but-slightly-devious!Clark you have going on in that story. The humor is marvelous, and thesex is smoking - even though they don't touch much. If I didn't have to be up in six hours, I'd go reread it (again) right now.

Thank you, thank you!!!! *HUGSSSSSSS* What a wonderful thing to say!!

I seem to have missed some of these. I think I have to go back and do some re-reading. >3 Well, the SV ones anyway. You know I don't do SpN that much. Except some of yours. *grin*
