I seriously made absurd, high-pitched sounds when Mark Pellegrino arrived on scene. This whole episode was like a Who's Who of awesome characters though.
I confess I was a bit worried about this season but it looks like we're off to a GREAT start!!! What a pleasant surprise to see him! That was a fabulous touch!
I KNOW! When he popped up I was just like :O "YEA! IS IT MY BIRTHDAY!" and then commenced with the bouncing and a little bit of flailing. He's wonderful and I hope he sticks around for awhile.
And man, SAMMY! I hafta admit--I love the crazybrains angle and that they're following through with it, but he kills me because he was trying SO HARD.
Then poor Castiel, but I have faith--the boy's will save him, I think or try like hell.
Damnit, I want to re-watch now and I can't! :( *cherishes memories*
YES YES YES!! OMG!! Death, Lucifer, Leviathan - omg! Castiel smiting all the haters, wheeeee! Sam keeping the faith, Dean getting drunk, Metallicar, breaking and entering, Crowley!
I'm a little late to the game, here, but it was a fabulous episode. The really gave us quite a few intoxicating hints of what the season is going to be like. Cas was amazing - I loved him going around an smiting all those people we often wish could just disappear. And then Lucifer was a huge surprise, especially since it looks as though he'll be around for at least another episode. We even got Death -being bond by the Winchester boys, no less. What an eventful night it was. Absolutely amazing. Breathtaking even.
I feel for poor Cas, though. I don't understand why Dean gave up on him so quickly. I hope that's something that will be fixed before the storyline ends. It looks like Dean was already feeling some regret at the end of the hour, so it looks hopeful.
They've always handled Cas and Dean's relationship oddly. It's like they're terrified that it might be misconstrued as a sexual or romantic one, so they waffle between presenting them as buddies or barely civil coworkers. Except they also have this way of having everyone around them point out that Cas would drink Dean's bathwater...*shakes head* I don't know.
They make me think a little of Clark and Lex. Lots of giving on Lex/Cas's part, lots of take from Clark/Dean. It's an aspect of each relationship that always bothers me. I was hoping for a better ending for Dean/Cas though. I'll be interested to see where things get taken this season, especially since Cas is no longer a season regular, based on what I've heard.
Hunh! you're right, it is a lot like that, isn't it? The taking isn't really bad, it's just too founded on the idea that the other person (Cas, Lex) willingly wants to help, and would do so no matter what because there's this bond they share...it's childish, not necessarily in a bad way, more like this childish faith the other person will endlessly give and then subsist on the little crumbs they get. I think there's no doubt that Clark loved Lex, he just didn't want to work too hard at it. A lot like Dean.
They packed so much friggin' awesome into 1 hour. It was the episode that grabbed you by the goods and didn't let go, and you didn't really want it to. More watching tomorrow!
