Yeah, I love me a Dean who can really kickass. And, he did it on his own while down there. At least, until he hooked up with Benny. That 'hooked up' phrase sounds as if it might be literal, too - Dean being all, 'I don't regret what we did in Purgatory at all, but we might want to cool it on Earth for a while.' HOMG!
And then Crowley! Only showing up when Dean was back. Such a hot little premise, there, although I think there's something else up with that. I'm not sure what, but I'm wondering why he didn't send anyone after Sam, since poor Sam was all on his own, with no big brother to get his back.
ME TOO! I'm so happy I stayed unspoiled 'cause damn. Okay, I lied a little. I work for a vet and that doctor? Way to insult and put down a guy who did the right thing by bringing the dog to the hospital and had absolutely no obligation to take the dog after. Only thing I didn't like in the whole ep.
Yeah, me too. You don't insult someone who brings in an animal they hurt, and you don't try to force said animal on someone who may not even be capable of taking care of them. For all she knows, Sam is some kind of nut or something, or has no space for a dog or is never home!
It was one hell of a fabulous season opener! I prepared to be a little oh dear about it but DAMN! The boy was just too hot! And Kevin was badass and who's Benny and--and--well, you know how I am about Dean/OMCs. My little self was shrieking happily! I would love to see Dean have a lover that he can call his own friend he didn't have to kill or watch die!

OK, I'm a huge Samgirl and I didn't hate this episode. I think it rocked. I know there's going to be a lot of Sam wank out of it, and I really don't want to hear it. I do admit BAMF!Dean is sexy as all hell, and yeah, maybe he has a right to be upset at Sam for not looking for him, but Sam had his reasons. *hugs Sam protectively*
I really like BAMF!Kevin too. That kid is awesome! I'm reserving my judgement on Benny, and I think I'm going to like Amelia.
Excellent!!! I was certain that Samgirls would hate it--I was so pissed off at Sam at first until I started to get the feeling that the show was being weighted against him deliberately. I hope everyone takes a step back until the next one or two shows, at that point, we should get a clearer sense of what's going on!

I liked it. I thought it was a really layered episode. Besides what they showed us with Dean, I definitely think that something else is going on with Sam, too. That there's a whole lot we don't know yet. Look at his body language while he's waiting to find out if the dog is going to live or die. He's practically vibrating his way out of that chair.
Plus, I just went back and re-watched the scene where Dean asked if he looked for him and Sam didn't answer him. He deflected like crazy and his expression just looked off. In no way does he look like someone who just took the year off for 'me' time.
I think that, just like Dean, there's a hell of a lot we don't know yet as to what really happened while they were apart. It's nice to be looking forward to finding out the answers. :)
I'm certain that something happened that was a major deal in Sam's life. He might not have looked for Dean, but he certainly didn't write Dean off. Like you say, his body language screams "don't ask, don't ask..."
I'm thrilled with how Jared's grown as an actor--he does that so damn well. I've been re-watching the soulless!Sam shows and he sells that guy so completely. And Dean...wow! I'd love to see a more centered, recharged Dean. I've got my fingers crossed! :)
And, did you notice sweetie, Dean hasn't had even a beer bottle in his hand since he's been back. It'd be pretty cool if purgatory burned the need to medicate his way through his day out of him, wouldn't it? :)
No, I think he did have a beer--but just the one beer instead of the hard stuff. It would be GREAT if that was burned out of him. I want them to go whole hog on this purity thing. I want Dean coming full circle, and being on fire again--but maybe this time with an understanding that both him *and* Sam are only human.
I must have missed it because I was dazzled by all the pretty. Amber laughed at the huge grin I had on my face as we watched Dean walking down that road in all his long legged, tight-jeaned wonderfulness. 'Course, she was admiring the view just as much as I was. :)

I love Dean being all centered and feeling cleansed--Sam had his cleansing and they better not go back on it, and now, Dean has his and I want to see that self-loathing, border-line alcoholism dialed way back this season.

You know I was so ready to just hate it, and admittedly the Sam stuff was terrible, (WTF was up with that vet forcing him to take the dog, that was just weird), but OMG, the hotness of purgatory!Dean makes up for everything. I am very excited about where they are going with the Dean/Benny stuff.
