So, if someone defriends you and you like them, can you keep commenting in their journal anyway? What's the etiquette here? People defriend for a lot of reasons, I chose to think that they're mostly not personal, 'cause, you know, enormous ego like that. *grin*

You're good not to take it personally. Who knows what the reason is. Maybe they don't lj much anymore and need to cut back on reading. I'd say, if you have something to say to them, then comment. LJ is a weird land, and we know so little of the people we read/comment to....

I've been defriended by a couple of people whose journals I still comment in because they don't friendslock their posts. However I was defriended by someone who does friendslock their journal so I figured since I couldn't see anything they wrote, I might as well defriend them back.

You can always leave a comment asking if they would prefer if you didn't comment.

erm, I could...but I'd have to be *very* careful in wording it...*grin*

Well, some people get enormous friends list, it probably takes them hours to go through their list--plus fandom interests change...stuff like that.

The whole defriending thing just pisses me off. I already did my big rant, so I'll leave it at that. If you still want to comment, I say go for it. I can't imagine anyone wanting to defriend you though:( They are clearly insane!

See, that's why I don't use that "who's flisted/deflisted you" tool thingy. I check my "edit friends" to see if anyone's added me, and I know some folks have deflisted me since I've started LJ, but I would still comment in their LJ if I had something to say.

I wouldn't take it personally; LJ and fandom are nebulous, and you never know what's going on with the person in RL, they may just be scaling back on LJ.

Don't take it personally, for sure! when i had to scale back it's b/c i didn't know most of those people and i was reding really painful things every single day.

But I have to say, when i did it, i offered an easy out for whoever thought it was mutual. I wish there would be -some- communication before the "snip" so to say, you'd feel less conflicted.

Oh no, I wouldn't and haven't actually. Just wondering if it's the kind of thing where you have to pretend you don't know the person. And I understand that when someone's post are mostly painful and depressing and you don't know them well enough to offer real help, it can be pretty rough.

if I want to be vicious, i can comment to people who have me defriended AND banned, heee, because they might be banning me from their LJ, but their is no way, they can control LJ communities or other peoples LJ, ....*hg*
