It's such a wrong-headed way to go. How could the yignore everything and villify Lex for being like the old man--and as far as they've hinted all along, not even as bad as Lionel?
I mean, WORD. Dear sweet jebus, Smallville. Otherwise know as OMGWTFBBQ!!!? But then, I've felt that way for some time, so maybe you should just ignore me. ;)
Well somewhere along the line, Lionel became a valued member of the Kent household, a good guy by virtue of his desire to change. All hail the excellent Lionel. And then, Lex got pissy because Daddy was good, and loved, but *he* was evil and everyone knew he was evil ALL ALONG!!! And to prove it, tonight he killed his dad! Tossed him from LuthorCorp! And how does this make him horribly evil? Because unlike his daddy, he actually succeeded in trying to murder family!
And Clark was all bitch face and hating, the end.
There will probably be lots and lots of thinky posts that will explain what happened, you know mine isn't one of them. :)
Lex & legs spread wide in a leather armchair, 2 extended Clark butt shots (thank god for TiVo), Clark looking quite dapper in a suit, and of course, death to maybe-not!Mercy for the audacity of laying hands on Lex: only Clark (and of course you) are allowed that pleasure.
And those are very good positives, yes. The graveside scene made up for all the stupid dialog. I mean, Mikey did a tremendous job, but he almost always does. Thomas did great with what he was given.
I'm totally relieved that I have special dispensation--I'd hate to get whacked for touching. *G*
I just keep telling myself that, now that Lionel knew Lex was onto the whole Veritas thing, Lionel would have made yet another attempt on Lex's life, and Lex knew that perfectly well, so Lex finally struck back in sheer self-defense. *pets Lex, who is not at all evil* Clark and Chloe's reactions, on the other hand, cannot be explained. *grits teeth* But the guys were pretty.
I'd really get behind Chloe's hate for Lex if it'd made more sense in the beginning. Sure she hates him now because of what he put her through but before that? What happened? I must have missed crucial scenes that would explain it.
'Maybe your father hated you and loved me because he couldn't trust you, Lex. Why didn't you try hard to be a good guy, Lex, and then he might have liked you, too. I tried to be your friend Lex, but you were just interested in power and money. What aliens, Lex? You're delusional.'
Okay. I now officially hate Clark, Superman and Smallville. It is HATE time folks.
I really can't get over Clark's retconning of Lionel's entire life. He just doesn't *get* it. But if he'd been talking about ANYONE other than Lionel, he would have been so heroic in those scenes.
Except the "delusional" thing. I hate Clark for that.
But the episode itself I thought was really good. Michael was... there are no words. It just goes to show you that no matter what they say, Lex really is the most human character on the show. He's completely tragic.
I don't like what they make Clark spout, I swear, it's awful and mean and it hurts me because I love Clark. *shakes head* It's a difficult show to deal with.

However, I shall point to the trailer. Lex opening the box and Lex at the fortress. Yes.
