Poor Smallville. Everyone seems kind of horrified it's on for another season. I think there's another season in it. I mean, since Michael's gone, it's not nearly as painful to watch(well, except for that one thing). They're not slicing and dicing up Lex's character anymore, so fiddle-de-de! I just get to watch the insanely beautiful Thomas say stuff on my screen weekly, and that's all I care about anymore. It's the mental equivalent of tossing myself off a cliff, yelling "free--free!" What I do hope is that they finally concentrate on Clark, and drop these pointless excursions into What-Not-ville.

And by the way, Clark, trading one ultra-possessive and border-line abusive boyfriend for another is not the way to go. In the long run, Lois is the way to go. You can both pretend she's the boss, when both of you know behind closed doors, you're the man---every way it counts. *wink*

Supernatural--I knew you'd be renewed, so I was happy but not surprised. Me, I'm hoping this doesn't mean the Brother Against Brother storyline gets dragged out, oy. I really didn't know when I hopped on the train that I'd just have to go through another version of The Rift. No wonder folks hied themselves off to fandoms they'd not have that to worry about. I must be somewhat masochistic. Or stupidly hopeful.

I'm hoping that bro vs. bro finishes up this season...

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
yes--I'd like to go back to the family business storylines to finish out the series.

wow--I *like* your icon!

[identity profile] sablier-bloque.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
lol! Me too! How much did I love (AND HATE!) that scene?! <3

oh yeah! *smacksself*

Amen to that! You're not the only one in this long-drifting-aimlessly boat, my dear friend. I gave up on SV being what I wanted to be a looooooong time ago. Now, like you said, I just try and enjoy what I can, while mentally sticking my fingers in my ears and going "Llalalala" during the rest. Plus? A little bit of TW goes a long way, and we have oodles of him (dressed in suits, no less!) to drool and sigh happily over.

I miss Lex, well, early season Lex. The last couple of seasons were too painful, which is why fanfic (and slash!) exists. Vive le CLex!!!

As for SpN, do I recall correctly that Kripke said the show was gonna run for only five seasons? Or am I wrong? *crosses fingers* Please let me be wrong, please let me be wrong, please let me be wrong, please. . . XD I'll take all of the boys I can get, even if they are battling against each other (literally). Though I do hope it doesn't come to that. I'd hate to see all that bonding (or would that be re-bonding) go up in Hellfire. :(

Again, fanfic. *cue heavenly chorus*

LOL! Fanfic is the balm for all ills, isn't it? They can screw it up all they want, we'll fix it, and keep fixing it! Heck yeah!

[identity profile] nataliadarimini.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I am crossing my fingers that there will be less of the distrusting and more of the openly weeping and clutching at each other next season on SPN.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
There should be much more clutching and a lot less, "you're a dick"

[identity profile] ladydreamer.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I feel like they don't know what to do beyond the the excursions into What-Not-Ville. He's RBBing offscreen, dude. Fuck the what? The longer they have, the more they're going to slice up the remains of the characters. It's time to end the vicious cycle.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
With any luck and a miracle, someone will realize that they've gone down a dead end and pull back. Maybe if we sent them a few copies of actual comics....

[identity profile] ladydreamer.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting choice of icon. Well, my hope-o-meter is burned out. Good luck with yours.

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm hoping they can wrap up the last season with Family Business plotlines, but I think it will probably be more end of the world, brother against brother stuff. Or maybe Sam will have to save Dean from the angels. That would be interesting. and I do not trust them at ALL :D

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not entertaining much hope for the Family Business returning. I do believe that they will do their best to kick our asses because they are evil like that.

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, that's how Kripke thinks.

[identity profile] ferdalump.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I like your attitude on this. It makes me happy. This season has surprised me, and I think there is still potential to turn things around. And if nothing else, you can watch the pretty Tom and I can get new clips of Lois to do my Brois thing and fandom can continue on to change with fanfic whatever doesn't please us.

And at the end of the day, I'm glad all the people will have jobs for another year--in this economy it's something to be thankful for.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
You know, I scream and curse the show, and swear I'm done but hey, I just have to admit it's in my blood and I can never give it up. Plus really, Clark and Lois are (shockingly) becoming a favorite of mine. Even though she is a good match with Bruce. *G*

I'm not sure what to think about Smallville continuing. If they'd let Clark grow up and become the hero he should be instead of giving us another season of "Clark's Creek" or Lanaville I'd be happy. I don't really accept anything after season 3 as true canon anyway. Maybe they could pull a Bobby Ewing and have Clark emerge from that cave wall having been held in a learning matrix for years to show him just what would happen if he pursued his present path.

I'm thrilled that SPN is returning.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
I would be completely willing to meet them all the way there if they wanted to do that. I see an awful lot of Smallville as wrong turns and dead ends that they're trying to write themselves out of and having been there myself too many times, I totally sympathize. I still think it's a wonderful story, and I'm still interested in seeing Clark get there--it's just that it's beginning to get way past time for Clark to get there.

I'm happy, at least theoretically, about a 9th season. If the show is going to end, I would like to see them do it properly and not rush the storyline. Worse case scenario, it'll provide an outlet for my more aggressive impulses in fodder for rants.

And I'm happy for you with the pickup for SPN. I can only hope the current administration makes it their priority, you know after all the economic and defense stuff, to loosen the FCC regulations regarding bare-naked-man-flesh exposure, but to actually require it.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
*falls down laughing* YES!!!

[identity profile] jeannev.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Ya know, I can understand people thinking the show should've ended already, or after this season. I sort of feel the same way. But I can't quite understand the indignation or the nastiness over the show continuing. In the end, if the show really offends you so deeply, just ignore it and watch something else. Those of us who sort of enjoy our love/hate relationship with the show, and our fangurl crush on Tom Welling will carry on happily :)

I agree--I've had times that I've had to stop watching Show live, because it was just too painful or frustrating, but you put it so well--the love/hate relationship with the show keeps me attached. And Thomas...who could voluntarily give up Thomas? *g*

I have mixed feelings ... I heart Tommy like woah ... and I feel like the show has lost some momentum, but ... maybe Season 9 will surprise me?

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
If nothing else, it'll pop out of the gate all guns blazing, just like it has every season, and then when it begins it's inevitable slide into WTF, we'll just close one eye and concentrate on Thomas.

[identity profile] dawnybee.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Clark has scads of time for therapy about his toxic relationship with men so that he can be the man for Lois, but right now he's loving LOVING having men kill for him. Don't be snuckered by the trembling lip and the sad green (or Clark's blue) eyes--if men didn't get crazy possessive and murderous because of Clark he'd think he was slipping.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Och my gawd, I love you so much--you always point out the truth!

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I get the impression the brother vs brother thing will wrap up this season, and then something different for next season. I remember the series Angel would have been of a post-apocalyptic world if they had got a season 6, and I actually think something like that would be really cool for season 5 of SPN... There's not many places to go to follow up Sam going darker/the big Dean Vs Sam clash otherwise as that feels like endgame, but I do want the brothers bonded and working together for the final season, and I think that would work out nicely at giving us a big follow-up :D

I'm pleased for another season of SV too as it does feel like the writers were already banking on it, and not even close to wrapping things up properly with season 8, so I wouldn't have wanted the show to go out that way. I have my fingers crossed that season 9 will give us the chance to get Michael back for the finale. I do have my concerns too, especially with the showrunners changing again as the current people are leaving for Melrose Place, but we'll just have to wait and see I suppose!

A post-apocalyptic world for SpN?? Would be the coolest thing ever--as long as the brothers are back to being friends! Or, you know, whatever...*grin*

[identity profile] huzzlewhat.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)

This is exactly how I feel about it. Whether or not it was true, I could feel them put the "stall!" gear in use right around the middle ... if they hadn't gotten a S9, I think they would have had to rush the ending, which would have been a disappointment.

[identity profile] clarkscherry.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Me? I'm tickled titty pink that SV is continuing. I love Lois and Clark, and I'll just put superLana in AU-ville and ignore it. I get to ogle Tommy Boy for another season. YAY! Shallow, moi? You betcha!

Also happy Supernatural got picked up. I can't get into the show but the boys are kinda pretty and they help keep Tom entertained up in Vancouver. Bless all the pretty boys. Amen.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
You and me are on the same wavelength--woo-hoo!

they help keep Tom entertained up in Vancouver. Bless all the pretty boys. Amen.

LOL!!! Why can't there be fic about that??

[identity profile] supercaptain182.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm happier than bees with honey now that I know Smallville has been renewed. Like you said, knowing Supernatural was picked up wasn't that much of a surprise. I hope the Bro vs. Bro and Hell, Earth, and Hell will play out at the end of this season. I feel like they've dropped the ball a little with that storyline in recent weeks.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid they're going to screw it up in the coming weeks--the spoilers aren't making me real happy. :(

But hey, anyway I can get Jensen... :)

[identity profile] jlvsclrk.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm with you. I didn't see how they could properly resolve the struggle with proto-Doomie without leaving everything up in the air. I think you need a good half season to deal with the after effects of what should be an epic battle. And it also gives them a chance to build up the Clois more naturally.

And like you, I find myself happier that Lex is gone. Once he turned to outright villainy, I just didn't like watching him any more. Now that he's gone, I can remember early Lex and truly enjoy Clex fanfic. Does that make sense?

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-02-25 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I get what you're saying. For me, it wasn't so much that Lex became villainous, we knew it was coming--I think it was the way they built him up to be evil, at the expense of character. I know as a Lex person, I tended to believe that he was good where he was really kind of border-line--but to make him look bad by making Lionel look like he was a saint, or to turn Clark into a jerk so that us the clueless audience really get that LEX IS BAD NOW, K? It was a disappointment.

Now that he's gone, I don;t have to watch him suffer, and I don't have to suffer, and I can let the cool, balmy breezes of season one blow through my head, and fill it with Clex...aaaaaaah! :)

[identity profile] carolandtom.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
What I do hope is that they finally concentrate on Clark, and drop these pointless excursions into What-Not-ville.

So do I, Roxy, so do I!
