Sharing and Caring

I started to watch Twilight with my cousin. She *loves* the vampires--she hooked me on True Blood--heck, we go all the way back to Dark Knight. So when she came over with her shiny movie clutched in her little hand, I was not surprised. What surprised me was what fun we had watching it. We didn't finish it because she had stuff to do, but we will next time she comes over. It was fun--laugh? My stars. It was totally geared towards little girls who are just starting to wonder about boys. In the movie, Edward, whatever, came across as scary, but safe. And she was Not Afraid. Don't spoil me for the rest, I'm enjoying it too much. That Wall Of Graduation...*SNORF* I think I found it a whole lot funnier than Bella did. That was her name, right?

Also, whew, that kid looked like shit. He was so adorable as Cedric--who knew he could look so bad?. His hair just pissed me off--like, brush it, for god sake.

I'm not going to spoil it for you, but that movie is safe for 10 year olds. It's so silly. I had to keep from laughing. I finally watched it last night. Edward is so freaky looking with all that makeup and his hair standing straight up. I don't know how she doesn't die laughing every time she looks at him. Oh how my middle schoolers LOVE this movie. They LOVE IT!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
It is SO silly! I laughed my ass off! And EVERYONE in this movie is laugh out loud funny looking! The hair, the skin, just...bwaaah! I can see little girls loving this movie. We were calling it 'pre-porn for prepubescents'. But we're evil like that. :)

" His hair just pissed me off--like, brush it, for god sake."

BWHAHAHAHAHA!! YES!!! My little cousin loves him with all of her thirteen year old soul. I giggle lots about it.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
It was...I hesitate to say stupid--no, wait--it was!

[identity profile] quiet--tiger.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, isn't that movie so made of fail for what it was supposed to be (development of romantic love), and made of win for comic gold? When you finish watching it, if you get a chance go back to my post on Saturday where I rant about the movie. I didn't even comment on Edward's hair, but yeah. Maybe vampires are allergic to brushes. According to the imdb the actor who plays him, one of his trademarks is "messy hair." Good one, yes?

LOL!!!!!

When we finish this test of eyeballs, I'll go back to your post. Man, this flick was...yes, comic gold!

[identity profile] laurapetri.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
OH gawd that movie so argh I don't even know how to describe it I laughed my head off

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
I know!!!!I can hardly believe they were serious! *SNORF*

[identity profile] emeraldsedai.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
God, I am SO GLAD to hear that someone didn't like this movie. I haven't seen it, and haven't read the books, so I'm coming from pure unadulterated prejudice here, but the whole damn phenomenon just bugs me.

Pre-porn for pre-pubescents. Hah! Got no problem with that. Because I'm a perv. But *Zoe voice* "He just bothers me."

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
He does!!! He really does! And he was so sweet in HP--here, he's a douche-in-training!

[identity profile] kira29.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoyed the movie in that its a no-brainer, in a cheesy romance novel kind of way. LOL

Also, there are 2 words that perfectly describe this movie to me: painfully awkward.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Those are two very generous and kind words. ;)

[identity profile] kira29.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I catch myself laughing at stuff every time I watch it... that I'm sure isn't intended to be funny. LOL

I mean, I dragged the hubby to see it in the theater and the whole Edward/Bella thing is just so awkward its painful to watch.

Also, yes... Edwards's messy hair is a big thing in the books. *headdesk*

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
HA!! You mean there was a *reason* for that hairdo? *muffled laughter*

[identity profile] kira29.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
OK, I had to pull out Twilight and look it up... but the first intro for Edward the exact description is that he has untidy, bronze hair. *dies*

The books and the movie are soooooooooo bad, but they still just kinda suck you in.

[identity profile] ladydreamer.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I got farther in the movie than in the book, but both bored me to sleep. Literally. ;p

Perhaps I should try again on the movie.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I swear, for me, it was a laugh a minute.

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
LOL I haven't seen it, but I'm tempted. I did read the book *hangs my head in shame* Though it was for similar reasons. It was so awful I kind of enjoyed it. Masochistic of me. ;)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that wondered about the hair.

What really disturbs me more than the hair is the fact that every store in town has Twilight t-shirts EVERYWHERE with that Edward and his awful hair on them!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
who would want that on their chest??????

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea but I couldn't find any normal clothes anywhere. It was scary. LOL

I couldn't even find a Superman t shirt to wear to the con! Like I'm going to go to a comic con to try to seduce some hot comic geek with EDWARD of the infinite bad hair days on my chest!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
omg--are there no Targets by you?? Target has the !!!BEST!!!! Superman and Batman T's but they're in the mens department! I swear, they're the best I've seen! There's a Supes w/Green Lantern, there's a Supes alone, and the Batman one is hot!

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
We have a Target but I normally cannot get my boobs into them. Which might actually help with the seduction idea...

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
LOL!!! YES! THERE YOU GO!!!

[identity profile] selinamoonfire.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
I actually kind of did that last year at the con. ;)

I got an awesome sketch when I accidentally flashed a famous artist. A hint of black lace and he gave me one of the best sketches of the show.

Maybe I should wear that outfit again. BWAAHAHAHAAAAA!

[identity profile] rosy5000.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
My nephew keeps trying to convince me we should rent Twilight just to make fun of it. I keep telling him I have much better things to do with my time. lol

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
No no no!! It's totally, totally mockable--it's popcorn flinging and horfing soda through your nose mockable!

[identity profile] elsmoka.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
His hair is holy!! :D

The movie is so bad it's almost awesome again!! ;)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
*SNORFLE*

Monstrous, of course, loooooooooooooooooves Twilight. She and her school friend are writing Twilight fanfiction!

She got the movie, and i promised i'd watch with her and i did. It had it's moments - it's a very pretty movie - and i like the American Indian boy and her truck, yay!

But yeah, painfully awkward, insipid, and that Bella is always on the verge of a breakdown or something, having the vapors all over the place.

Plus the vegetarian vamps - omg!
*giggles*

Of course, i didn't mock or laugh while we watched, she was so happy to have me there and pointing out to me the 'awesome' parts. :)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
omg, no, no! We can never mock what the children love in front of the children--that's just wrong! I speak from experience, believe me. Now she's of an age where I can go--HA! REALLY? if I want. *G*

[identity profile] supercaptain182.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
I heart True Blood so much, I began to read the Sookie Stackhouse novels! They're actually good, very funny. My best male friend, who is straight btw, loves Twilight and has read all the books. He thinks it's the best thing ever, which definitely pains me. He doesn't understand why I can't share his love for it. I told him mainly it's because I like my vampires to either be scary as balls or sarcastic and brooding. Plus, my female lead can't be too freaking whiny. I told him the Edward/Bela type romance had come and gone in my life.

Can I say: Max/Liz or Clark/Lana...Only if Bella busted out with her own brand of Lana-fu, slayer skills ala Buffy tutelage, or absorbed alien powers, then I wouldn't have to cover my eyes and hide whenever I see anything Twilight.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I *love* the Sookie books! I started reading them a while ago, and got totally hooked--still love them, unlike the Anita Blake books. She's a little cooler in the books than she is on the show, I think. :)

[identity profile] helioshyperion.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it great? It so awesomely badly great! And, um, if you don't like Edward's hair, please do not google Robert Pattinson, because you will find the Rpattz Hair of Doomy Monstrosity.

"Of three things I was certain: First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him -- and I don't know how dominant that part might be -- that thirsted for my blood. Third, he looked exactly like Cedric Diggory."

[identity profile] xinsidemyskinx.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
I went to go watch it at the movies and was surprised at just how much i enjoyed it. And i have to admit that Robert Pattison's rendition of Edward surprised me also, i was very much impressed and will secretly admit that I'm excitedly awaiting the next installment.
