Ever do this thing where you comment in someone's journal and kind of lose it, praise-wise? Like maybe you might have gone just a weeee bit overboard? And they give you the LJ equivalent of backing off and surreptitiously checking out the exits? Pretty fucking embarrassing, isn't it?

Gosh, not that I've ever done anything like that. *koff* Not me, I'm made of cool.

OMG, I do that SO often. And then I want to go back and delete, but that would almost be worse. And I always manage to do it in the journals of people I barely know, so I'm convinced they must think I'm a total crazy person.

Oh god, yes, yes!

LOL! And those love memes? I make an idiot of myself there all the time. Or I comment in a LJ I'm not friended to and first I'm all calm and proper and after a while I forget and act like a--a Roxy, heh.

[identity profile] herohunter.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
hahaha, yes!!!

Ahhh Roxy you made me laugh. Thankyou for this moment of sheer bloody cheerful embarrassment. I love that last line and I don't know why but I hear a voice. I'm sure I've had the same treatment from hugely dorkable over-exuberant puppy love comments I've left but I refuse to acknowledge the existence of such reactions...preferring instead to go along my merry way blissfully oblivious to all the not so covert, highly suspicious and more than a little bewildered looks and the scrabbling, frantic user profile views thrown my way.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Hah! Love your icon! And happy to make you laugh. ;)

you know, It sort of hits me at odd times, like getting out of the bath and suddenly, bam--'omigod, did you really say that?' oy...or right before I go to sleep all snuggly and comfy, there it is, bam--'hokey smokes, you realize now this person thinks you're a stalker--and since you didn't use spell-check, an illiterate stalker..."

At least thank goodness, it's an embarrassment free zone here. *G*

[personal profile] ender24 2008-04-17 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
how would they do that?
i mean, i would like to know the signs, if that happened to me.

though, that concept of going overboard, in fandom, seems strange to me, since fandom (well to those who are active anyway) is kind of an obsession, and i most of the time assume, the other is about the same level of craziness as i am so, *shrugs, where it the problem*.
when they want to be cool and aloof, they are in the wrong place, or should completely flocked their LJ

trust me, you'll know it when you get it!

when they want to be cool and aloof, they are in the wrong place, or should completely flocked their LJ

of course you're right, it should work like that because the one thing that connects us all is we're geeks, no matter how fancy the language, how poor or how well written, it all comes down to one thing, we're writing about TV shows.

It's just that I get shy when some one does it worlds better than me and then, is way cleverer besides. Oy!

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
*raises hand* I've definitely done that.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not alone!!

[identity profile] myownghost.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
oh yes, me too. i usually back off in embarrassment and then do it again next time they post something wonderful. being a fangirl is all about the squee, isn't it?

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Yes, I guess it is! *G*

*gives you the secret handshake of fangirl solidarity*

[identity profile] mkitty3.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think I did that earlier today actually! LOL

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
no, no, no see, we just hide our cool so other people won't feel bad they're not as cool as us. :)

I thought I was the only one!!

Thanks for sharing!

Oooooh, no, not by a long shot! *G*

[identity profile] jooniper-pearl.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. Big time. I completely feel like I'm back in High School and the popular cute guy smiled at me and I tripped over my own feet trying too hard. *facepalm*

Yeah. All the time.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Omg, yes, that's exactly the feeling. How horrible is it that I still get it and it's been thirty years since then? And speaking of that, when do I get to stop having those "holy crap, I've got a test and I can't find my class!" nightmares?

[identity profile] emeraldsedai.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. Who on LJ is so damned cool that "too much praise" is even a possibility?

Well, okay. I know what you mean. Sometimes enthusiasm of the moment gets the better of me.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm the worse for going on and on! Though, after a while, I guess folks get used to it...*GRIN*

[identity profile] rhiannonhero.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I'm sure that's not the case!!!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, hah! Believe me, it's so the case, lol!
I'm feeling a little better about it seeing as I'm not alone! *G*

[identity profile] midori79.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've really gushed, but I have a dry sense of humor, and I worry after I post that they will take it the wrong way.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, I understand that too! I try to be careful in that respect because without facial clues, it can be...not good! *g*

ENTHUSIASTIC CAPSLOCK IS MY FEEDBACK BREAD AND BUTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

(so are excessive exclamation points)

I only tend to comment on fic if I truly love it or have a personal realationship with the author, so the squee is pretty much built into my commenting system (not that I'd fo - squee good friends, just be pleased that they'd given something a shot even if its not to my taste).

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2008-04-18 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL!

I am a huge fan of exclamation points! And enthusiastic comments! :)
