SV: wha? Hunh?

Okay, what the hell was that?

I missed the beginning so when I tuned in, Lana was just sitting there like a biblical curse. A one woman plague of WTFness. Did I miss the climactic conversation between Lana and Clark in which he compares her perfidious actions to Lex's and puts them in the same boat—oh, wait, that wasn't TV, that was [livejournal.com profile] tobywolf13

I was feeling pretty bad about my crappy plotting skills until watching this show tonight. Thomas continues to make me sing, but Mikey was definitely chanting "Countdown to freedom" in his head. Not even his talk with Kara, full of slashy overtones, made me smile. My poor boy. He'd hurting--look at him!

One thing that made happy was the Clark&Kara bit. Oh my! Thomas is SO good there--he's wonderful, funny and adorable but everything else is such *bullshit*. Clark has wrestled with being alien on earth for almost a lifetime, has had to work hard every day to fit in--and this girl has the nerve to compare her experience to Clark's? She just woke up--she hasn't suffered loss and hurt like Clark has trying to be human. Lord--let me put my hands in my pockets before I have to choke someone. So help me, I want to like Kara, I'm like *desperately* wanting to like her…please SV don’t kill it.

And why is it open season on Chloe?

I'm off to see if smarter folks than me can explain just what the hell we watched here tonight.

[identity profile] quiet--tiger.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
We watched the writers being unable to come up with new material, so they just recycled a lot of old stuff. It was the first six seasons in one compact package.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
AAAaaah, that explains so much....

[identity profile] myownghost.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
>Lana was just sitting there like a biblical curse. A one woman plague of WTFness.

haven't seen the episode yet, but she always hits me that way. :D

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! She really is something....

[identity profile] ladydreamer.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I guess she hasn't suffered from trying to fit in, but she doesn't like it, and she HAS suffered losing ever person she ever loved. I'm amazed she can function.

I don't KNOW why it's open season on Chloe. Sigh.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's true, but what she's experienced and what Clark's experienced seems to me would be very different. I'm also surprised that she can function--I'm surprised even more that she's functioning so well as a human. So, was there an explanation for that that I missed?

[identity profile] ladydreamer.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Appropriate grieving takes time away from Clana. Maybe Kara beats up cows to release her anger.

I think there was some kind of sleep-learning going on while she was in suspended animation. I could be wrong. I tend to fill in the blanks with random bits from other scifi when I'm watching SV.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I think SV even takes it for granted that we'll fill in the blanks. *g*

Ah, hell. And here I'm just heading downstairs to watch it. I guess I won't be saving this episode, huh? ;)

I got your note! You're a sweetie! Have you watched all the episodes I sent yet? Do you like it? Is Captain Jack to die for? Do you want me to do you the rest of the season? :D

I *LOVE Captain Jack! I love the show! I can't imagine something like that here. It's so different than I expected--wow! And now I can read the fic and know what the heck is going on,lol!

Watch the show--Thomas is just wonderful, and Mikey...well, I'll probably watch it again, I think I was hasty with him.

CAPTAIN JACK!!! He's brilliant! And you're right, we could never have the random bisexual snogging on a regular TV show here. Hugs to the BBC! :)

SV did have some good bits. I'm just VERY unhappy with what's happening to Chloe. They haven't been this mean to her since season two, I think. MR seemed a little--unenthusiastic. He's probably as tired of the Lexana as we are.

Ms. Roxy, I may have to marry you. Hope Mr. Roxy doesn't mind. ;)

It did occur to me Smallville = Superboy. Sure, there's better cinematography and SPX, but tonight, I finally realized that's all it ever was. Sigh.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh goodness! I'll have to purchase some frothy lingerie, leave Mr. Roxy a note...

but tonight, I finally realized that's all it ever was. Sigh.
And that's what drives me crazy--it could be so much more--it *has* been. Watching tonight, I had a split second where I thought--oh, god, they're giving up all pretense and aiming at the under fifteen crowd. Scary.

[identity profile] herohunter.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
I can't remember hating an episode this much since Season 4. Even the detestable Green Arrow didn't get as much hate from me as this poor excuse for an episode, to me.

Chloe is a turncoat who deserves no love, but she IS getting it from all ends this season. OUCH.

God bless Michael. The writing for Lex only keeps getting WORSE and WORSE, especially when PERFECT!Lana is in the room.

How I wished that when the bitch told Clark she had come back "for us," that he would have told her, "No way, ho. This is not about what YOU want anymore."

*sigh*

I HATED IT.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Hating it is my knee-jerk reaction, and then I start picking it apart to find what I *did* like. Right off the bat, I have to say I hated completely the Lana bit. I hate that she's apparently getting off scot-free, that Clark is okay with what she did because Lex is a bad bad man. I agree that Mikey is having to act like a superhuman because his lines suck--but he does what he can and gave real menace to those seemingly forgiving lines while talking to Hamsterina.

Chloe pissed me off so much with her out of the blue hatred for Lex but now, I feel sorry for her. Now, they're going to take her boytoy too? Bastards.

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Lana was just sitting there like a biblical curse. A one woman plague of WTFness.

Hee! That is the absolute, hands-down best description of Lana I've ever read. *applauds you*

I am not fond of open season on Chloe. And I (mostly) like Lois, but what the hell is with her randomly being off in Europe persuing important stories there? She did one story about a spaceship and she gets shipped off to cover foreign affairs? Craziness!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
They're asking us to swallow an awful lot at one time. They should at least buy us dinner first.

[identity profile] legendarytobes.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, technically it's NYC, but that might make it worse.

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. It doesn't surprise me that I got that wrong. And yes indeed, somehow it does make it worse. *sigh* I wish they'd actually just let Chloe have something for a change. Anything.

[identity profile] morganichele.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I will say this...Kara telling Clark that she was wasting the best years of her life...that kind of made me chuckle. I mean, it's not like she aged...or was awake. She had a really long nap, and woke up sparkly fresh. *giggle*
And, I really did like Lex telling Lana that even Clark wouldn't approve of some of the stuff she's done.
*sigh* If the producers would just do ONE episode with a eensy-weensy little sliver of pink K, I'm telling you...they think it'd be all whatever, but their ratings would go insanely crazy! Just one episode...a little bit of Clark and Lex throwing it down like they fell into a vat of alien Viagra...it'd do wonders in getting the show super sparked up again. Hmm...sorry...I went into cheesy-fantasy mode. Again.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
My word...wouldn't that be the best thing ever? And I bet it would bring about world peace. It would! Let's start a petition!

[identity profile] morganichele.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it absolutely would. *starts writing petition* First stop, CW, next stop...the White House. SV Fandom and Clex-lovers everywhere...saving the universe through the beauty of slash. *stares off dreamily into space before starting to write again*

[identity profile] sussixer.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Lord--let me put my hands in my pockets before I have to choke someone."

I am right there with you, what is this thing about desperately trying to hold on to the Lana character. The time has come, past, and swung back round again to say bye bye to Lana Lang!

"And why is it open season on Chloe?"

In my opinion, Chloe has gotten the bums rush for the entire series. She never gets anything that is just about her for too long. Clark, was never gonna happen (but her cousin, sure, why not.), they call her name to walk for graduation, the state police break up the ceremony before she can get on stage, starts to get some recognition as a journalist, toss the spotlight Lois's way instead. Finally, finally she gets a steady boyfriend not out to kill her, he ogles another girl in her face!
Seriously, they crap on that character every season, it always ticks me off!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
The time has come, past, and swung back round again to say bye bye to Lana Lang!

A world of yes. She was a minor player--she was a damn high school crush--not the love of his life. Since they're so willing to fling canon out the window, then heat up the Lois and Clark--in fact heat it up in front of Lana--that'd be fun!

She's really made me mad recently, (all about the Lex) but I like her too much to want to see this constant horrible mess they make of her life.

[identity profile] legendarytobes.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry for all the Clexers and huge Lex fans on my list. I like Lex but I've never been in love with him or MR, but watching what he's been reduced to this season makes me mad. Lex Luthor doesn't FUCKING beg anyone to love him and if he did, it wouldn't be Lana Lang.

MR must be so painfully, painfully bored.

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm being stabbed in the heart by my show, and I can't let it go. *sigh*

[identity profile] legendarytobes.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, it is open season for Chloe:

7.01: She dies.

7.02: Cousin gets promoted AHEAD of her with no talent and she gets insulted repeatedly.

7.03: Clana are back together in full force with the new secret-keeper and Jimmy insults MF's and makes googly eyes at Kara.

7.04: She almost gets murdered by old Supes.

Yeah, she's having a stellar year. BTW, thanks for the shout out!

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I was a complete ass and didn't comment, but man--it was a *great* story!! It's what should have been.

[identity profile] legendarytobes.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
God, someone should write the Lexana scene too where Lex just lets her have it as well. She should be in JAIL right now. Some poor man had to die in prison of cancer in her place.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Well, we definitely agree that TW was wonderful in this!

Just remember that Kara has to play annoying to allow Clark to be the wise mentor. (Also? Just found out she lost her whole planet and everyone she ever loved. So maybe this desire to stand out, and her general brattiness, is just a deflection of her own grief?)

[identity profile] roxymissrose.livejournal.com 2007-10-12 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not what Kara wants that bugs me it's how she wants it. She's instantly human, more than that, she's American. From everything that happens in this ep, there can only have been a few weeks passage of time. I certainly grant her her grief, it's just her assimilation is amazingly quick. I guess I wanted to see her be kind of Kryptonian, but since according to SV it just means having an even bigger stick up one's ass than Clark had now, I suppose we're not missing much. And they were awfully cute together, and she must be really really steamed that the little kid she came for, to guide and give her purpose, is now a big grumpy old fart trying to tell her what to do. Looking at it from the oldest sibling's viewpoint, I can tell you, that's *got* to be annoying.

I will get over this as usual bit of SV whatness, and ignore it completely, fiddly-dee-dee!
