Okay, what the hell was that?

I missed the beginning so when I tuned in, Lana was just sitting there like a biblical curse. A one woman plague of WTFness. Did I miss the climactic conversation between Lana and Clark in which he compares her perfidious actions to Lex's and puts them in the same boat—oh, wait, that wasn't TV, that was [livejournal.com profile] tobywolf13

I was feeling pretty bad about my crappy plotting skills until watching this show tonight. Thomas continues to make me sing, but Mikey was definitely chanting "Countdown to freedom" in his head. Not even his talk with Kara, full of slashy overtones, made me smile. My poor boy. He'd hurting--look at him!

One thing that made happy was the Clark&Kara bit. Oh my! Thomas is SO good there--he's wonderful, funny and adorable but everything else is such *bullshit*. Clark has wrestled with being alien on earth for almost a lifetime, has had to work hard every day to fit in--and this girl has the nerve to compare her experience to Clark's? She just woke up--she hasn't suffered loss and hurt like Clark has trying to be human. Lord--let me put my hands in my pockets before I have to choke someone. So help me, I want to like Kara, I'm like *desperately* wanting to like her…please SV don’t kill it.

And why is it open season on Chloe?

I'm off to see if smarter folks than me can explain just what the hell we watched here tonight.

Well, we definitely agree that TW was wonderful in this!

Just remember that Kara has to play annoying to allow Clark to be the wise mentor. (Also? Just found out she lost her whole planet and everyone she ever loved. So maybe this desire to stand out, and her general brattiness, is just a deflection of her own grief?)

It's not what Kara wants that bugs me it's how she wants it. She's instantly human, more than that, she's American. From everything that happens in this ep, there can only have been a few weeks passage of time. I certainly grant her her grief, it's just her assimilation is amazingly quick. I guess I wanted to see her be kind of Kryptonian, but since according to SV it just means having an even bigger stick up one's ass than Clark had now, I suppose we're not missing much. And they were awfully cute together, and she must be really really steamed that the little kid she came for, to guide and give her purpose, is now a big grumpy old fart trying to tell her what to do. Looking at it from the oldest sibling's viewpoint, I can tell you, that's *got* to be annoying.

I will get over this as usual bit of SV whatness, and ignore it completely, fiddly-dee-dee!
