I'm coming up on my 8th LJ year. Eight years! I can hardly believe that I've been here for that long, especially when I was sure once upon a time that I'd post a couple of BtVS ficlets and give it a rest. I'm still enjoying being here, even if things have changed. The climate, people, likes and dislikes--a few years ago I was stunned and horrified by the discovery of bestiality (still kind of traumatized by that whole thing) yet this year I'm following with great interest a story about a Jared werewolf and a poor lost Jensen who finds himself...seduced, in a way, by a wolf? And enjoying it. Hunh! That handbasket is getting bigger and bigger! And then there was that pony boy story last year I really liked, very much, omg. Not to mention the tons of underage SpN I write...let's not even pretend, my friends.

It's not that LJ corrupted poor innocent me, (in fact, sometimes, the whole thing is very educational, why I've--but I digress!) it's just that it gave me a place where a bunch of folks just like me hung out. A place where I don't have to feel quite as much a perv as I used to, though make no mistake, there are plenty of times I feel like a perv. RPS, I'm trying to look at you but frankly, it's hard to meet your eyes *koff* Real People Slash--someplace else I swore I'd never go and here my first SpN BB is RPS. Lawks. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Like I said, I'm still enjoying it here, but I confess to giving some thought to letting it go because of the changes and the growing feeling that the tar is about up to my dinosaur knees--but you know, I just can't let it loose. And someday, when those of my friends who've wandered away come back to LJ like I know they will, I want them to be able to find me, porch lights still burning and a plate of chocolate chip cookies waiting by the fireplace. ;)

I think I was corrupted by LJ, and thank God for that! I may never have slashed! I tipped my toenails into Xfiles slash waters, but until LJ I'd never been truly baptized fully immersed into it. Clex is, and probably will remain, my main OTP for quite some time to cum, er...come!

I am really grateful to enderwiggin for nudging a bunch of us Kryptonsite rejects over to LJ. If that hadn't happened I'm sure I probably would have abandoned fandom a long time ago, and missed out on following many fun f-listers.

Yeah, I think LJ corrupted me too. Before I came here, I was militantly against slash, and refused to read it. I finally dipped my toe in the water, and now here I am, reading more of it than I do het/gen. I'm also more a fan of RPS than I am SPN fic, though I read it too. I do have my ships, and I stick with them. Just S/D and J2. I don't get into any others.

This was such a fun post! I can relate so much to the um...relaxing of personal standards?? The succumbing to kinks of all kinds?? LOL! There are still some lines I draw...but a lot fewer than there were last year. Knotting?? What, are people kidding? What the... oh my...um...wow! Well, that's pretty damn hot, ain't it! ;-)

I hear you so much on how things have changed with LJ. Just a year ago I would never have thought that I'd have drifted away from it as much as I have. Used to be that I didn't go a day without posting at least once, unless I was on vacation or something. Now, I post two or three times a week tops? And feel quite lonely on my LJ sometimes, or just feel like I'm in a ghost town of sorts. It's sad, huh? So weird.

LJ is very educational... and corrupting. hee That's what makes it fun. ;) Because, OMG! Before LJ, I was such a sweet, innocent, little girl who blushed at reading swear words in books... yeah, now, not much DOESN'T go. *hides* And I get to share what I learn with my nephew. That's what a good aunt does, right? Helps educate? Though, I don't know if he'll ever forgive me for me making him watch a few eps of Queer as Folk. Justin wasn't the only one who learned what rimming was. *EG*

I'm so glad you're here! I know how you feel about all the changes, and especially about the RPS. It used to be sort of--I don't know, the special bus to hell stuff, but now it's all over the place! And my main fandom now is an RPS pairing.

It's amazing how far fandom has come since the days of Star Trek and printed out fanzines. :)

i've had to take breaks here and there, but LJ truly has THEE best people on it. (and the most talented!!)

plus, i think it appeals more to the "older" crowd now. i just don't "feel" right on facebook. (only have it to communicate with the child monster) and can't stomach the others.... guess i'm too old school!! (and paranoid) ;)

plus, all my slashtastic authors/artists are still here!!! YAY!! *hugs*
