So it was my turn to get flamed at AO3, I guess. I don't want to make my stories only available to people with accounts, so you have to take the bad with the good, I guess. Granted, it's an old story and a bit over the top, but a piece of garbage? I'm not the best writer but I'm sure as hell not the worst. I've written some awkward stuff, but I've never, ever written a piece of garbage.

I got:that was disturbing and didn't make any sense at all. Hopefully your writing is better now, because this is not good at all, not only in regard of the content and charactarization, but the whole story and setting is an unlogical mess. Now I have to take a bath in holy-water clensing myself and washing away all that filth from this piece of garbage.

My opinion? Folks get bored and decide to go be assholes at sites like this. They know that comments like this can be hurtful and I think they do this hoping that they hurt someone, make them doubt themselves. They're probably pretending to be decent folks in public. Sites like this let them be the terrible people they really are.

I think iibnf put it best when she hinted that some people are morons. Heartless and very unkind morons. If I was a young kid starting out, putting my best into what I'm doing and hoping for a kind word, that comment would have been devastating. Thank goodness I'm an old fart who's dealt with worse! ;)

Forget the holy water, she needs to take her barely legible and literate fanfiction scrawled in her Lisa Frank notebooks that she can't even bring herself to post on Fanfiction.Net complete with the misused "there", "their" and "they're" and poorly written pron that she only knows about from watching her hamsters have sex and from reading the first form writing style of E.L James and take a dip Lake Minnetonka while sipping on a piping hot cuppa shut the eff up and sit the eff down, that trick. It's terrible! Some people never grow up, they're still writing nasty middle-school notes about other folks, only now, the whole world--or whoever trips over their comment--gets to read it.

Yeah, you know me, I'm not upset, just kinda surprised and a little amused that this person wants to critique a story the way that they did. How many does that make this year? Somewhere, a troll is dissing my stuff hard, is all I can think. And you're right. I might be short, pudgy and old as dirt, but I can still make a person apologize for breathing with a look and a "So...you were sayin'...."

What story was it, and what thing that was going around in SV? I mean, there were some weird tropes and trends that turned up over the course of 10 years, but I remember your stuff being pretty good, or at least highly readable even when it was weird. And unless it was seriously AU, the setting isn't remotely your doing--perils of fanfic! :)
