I'm sure that Sam thought Dean was dead--that's the only way he would have gone on. He also realized (at that time, in that moment) that doing what they'd always done, tearing up heaven and earth to bring each other back only brought more sorrow and more pain. It was a personal growth kind of thing, and my feeling about it is that the only thing Sam did wrong was not explain it so Dean would get it. Granted, Dean's kind of an asshole and doesn't listen all that well. Still, I'm so glad that they addressed it, because it bothered Dean and it bothered Sam because it bothered Dean. And maybe Dean truly does forgive him, because he did things that were worse.

I like that they're letting them be brothers again, finally! I'm more than happy to have all conflict come from outside, and for them to be a solid front, you know?
