Fic title: Stranger Than Fiction (B)
Author name: thenyxie
Genre: MetaComedy/Drama
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Rating: NC-17
Word count: 50,500
Warnings/Spoilers: Through S4
Summary: Set immediately post-The Monster at the End of This Book. Dean can't stop wondering why people would write gay porn about him and Sam. Research takes him to interesting places; re-reading the novels for subtext, visiting message boards, and a really freaky place called Livejournal. What he discovers along his hysterical journey is a sick fascination with fanfiction, more about gay sex than he ever wanted to know, and an even deeper obsession with understanding why people write this stuff. Meanwhile, they're hunting a mysterious monster that takes the form of a person's truest love to kill them slowly, the lines between reality and fanfic have begun break down, and if all that wasn't enough, they still have to try to stop Lilith and save the world.
This one…I liked this one a lot but. I think what bothered folks about the episode (monster at the end) bothered me about this story. It's weird and kind of pointless reaction, I know, but there you have it. I thought it was cute, their initially horrified fascination with fanfic, and the way they lied to each other—and the gradual escalation of their relationship—I'm a sucker for that. The whole SamDudeKingofHell was handled pretty well—nice speculation on the author's part. And I think I picked up on a bit of an angel crush from poor Castiel. Now you're asking yourself, but MizzRose, what about the important part, and I answer, smoking hot sex, friends, smoking hot sex. Plus a really adorable Dean and Sam.

Fic title: Learning to Breathe (A)
Author name: jassy3399
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Rating: R
Word count: 38862
Summary: When he was fifteen, Sam confessed his romantic feelings to his brother. Rejected and unable to face his brother again, Sam runs away. In an effort to stay off his father's radar, he turns to a life of crime to get by. As it turns out, he's pretty good at it.
I *LOVED* the premise for this story, and adored the Sam in this. You know how much I love taking a character and tweaking things so that they change? Well, that's what the author did with Sam here. What if Sam wasn't as much a goody-two shoes he was in the first season? He changes here in such a fascinating way you just have to keep reading to see where he goes. Plus, there's a layer of delicious angst (yum, you know how I love that!) that propels Sam into his very different life style. The only quibble I have here is that I loved Sam to pieces and could see him even with the changes but Dean at first, and just at first rang wrong to me. Late, Dean is spot on. Odd, maybe it was me. At any rate, there's an adorable scene between the two of them later in the fic that can't be missed. Yeah, I liked this, lots, and I really didn’t expect to. Great, great fun, this!
