Perhaps you should invest $50 in an uninterruptible power supply. (UPS)
They (most of them) filter out any lightning-induced power spikes.

When the power goes out, they supply power to the computer from batteries. When the batteries get low, it instructs the computer to shut down.

The batteries have to be replaced every so often, like maybe every couple of years.
