There is an actual scene of somebody being "run out of town on a rail" (i.e. a fence post) toward the end of "O Brother, Where Art Thou." A bunch of guys run in with the rail, they strap this guy on it and carry him out of town. Who knows why. (Well, probably 5 minutes at Wikipedia would tell me why, but I'm feeling lazy).
