Oh Miss Rose. I am sorry I missed this when you first posted, but I am glad it's here, because I loved this. Miss Ripley has her work cut out for her, but I believe (hope!) she's going to Do The Right Thing.
Reactions:I love how you detail Lex's routine, the removal of his shoes, coat, everything, and we wait just as patiently as Miss Ripley. Such a wistful tone, conveyed through everything.
Loved this line SO much: "...Dad loved to eat, and greeted food like a dear friend. Poppa ate to live..."
And,
“Poppa, that was informative in a traumatizing way,” she said, expecting him to smile.
And it was wrenching to watch Lex bare his heart (though we love it when he does so.) And he must put his daughter from him, even though it hurts more than anything.
And Clark knows this. Bless him.
sad, sad, sad, then this SO funny:
"He poured another mug and checked out the fridge, making a grocery list as he chatted about what he had to do that day, and his latest himbo. Not that she’d ever say it out loud. But Dad had suck taste in guys."
Bahahaha. I so died over this. Really.
And it ending with a smile. Oh, yes. Cast your spell Miss Ripley.
