I pretty much always sw Joker as a bad nutcase masquerading as a mild nutcase. Even when I were a wee Roxy, much as I loved goofy Joker, I always thought there was chance he might eat Robin alive--but I always felt that way about Gene Wilder too, (ever see the original willie wonka? weren't you waiting for him to do something permanent and horrible to the children?)and I love him to pieces.
