Hummmmmmmmmmm, I think I'm going to go with nice - I'm reading so many stories, WIP, where Lionel just needs to die, that it is nice that he just kicks it here. But, I guess that since this story has really nothing at all to do with him, Lionel would have been an unnecessary complication (in a world that is complicated enough).
Well, it is nice that Lex seems to have grown out of his punk phase - not that he won't light up and be all inappropriate when he sees Clark again, but a Lex edging towards mature adultness is, well, hotness.
Ahhhh, I see how you are going to get Lucas into Smallville - I imagine that this, Lionel death, is happening contemporaneous to the plant closing, etc... so at the very least Lucas is going to have to visit the various LuthorCorp holdings. Voila, Lucas in Smallville - and after he meets a totally more in your face Clark, oh that should be fun. I wonder if he is going to try and help Lex get Clark - in his totally non-helpful Lucas way - after it becomes clear that Lex is infatuated with Clark and Clark has come to his senses and returned home, without leaving a forwarding number.
