No, he doesn't die--he gets raped. And Lex singles out Whit as being responsible, even though Whit wasn't there at that point--but he knew it was likely to happen and he didn't stop it. Lex's vengeance rests on him, but then it becomes not so much about vengeance and turns into a weird and twisted relationship. Because I love Whit very much.
