Last night, I was wishing there was a way I could search my entries for a certain character that I like to write the same way no matter what the story. I wanted to be sure that I was keeping to the characterization I'd chosen for them ( my earlier post).
roxy, I said, it would be wonderful if you could just type in their name, and the entry would then magically appear. Yes, roxy replied. Kind of like that tag feature.

Tag feature?

You know the one.

Ah. That one. Say, isn't that your bus?

This children, is what we call Techno-Booby.

tags came along after i'd had my journal for years already, and i was too lazy and resistant to The New to cabbage onto them. so, i have no tracking system either. alas.

what character, huh huh? you doesn't has to tell, but now i'm wildly curious.

Heeeeee!
I've tagged back two years and all my stories. I tagged my stories using the memory function, 'cause i'd had them all in my memories at that point. Still haven't finished tagging all the other posts, though.

Have you tried www.ljseek.com? Sometimes that can be helpful.

(And yeah, backtagging things is a PAIN. I spent a whole weekend backtagging posts for [livejournal.com profile] eat_crow when I became the maintainer of the community, and it wasn't even that many entries. The only personal entries I have backtagged are my recs, and even that was a major pain in the butt).

Backtagging, hm? I'm still stuck at doing that from 2005 posts...

Being obsessive-compulsive has its advantages sometimes. I used tags from the very beginning and that in combination with the yearly story lists I maintain makes life very simple for me.

Depending, of course, on your definition of simple. I just spent the last week updating my website and archiving all the stories I've written since May. What a PITA.
